From starting up your forum, how long did it take for someone to join your forum after finding your site through search engines such as Google or Bing? 6.6% of my forum traffic is through searches on Google, yet I don't believe anyone has registered as a result of visiting. My forum is almost three months old. What's your story?
It took me 5 months to get 1 member from google then after that i started getting quite a few it takes time but when it does happen its worth it because you start getting a influx of members and guests viewing your forum!
I don't get traffic from search engines. There are hundreds of established sites that have PR9 pageranks in my niche.
Everyone has different story about this and there is nothing new in this and there are many sub sites that may help this out and everyone can get user easily.
That's...not quite what I was asking. Anyway, I got my first member from Google the other day. I'm really pleased!
We get about 10,000 hits / month from Google searches, but it used to be much less. What helped us most was to start writing articles, not just forum posts. vBulletin 4 has a built in CMS (it's alright, not great) - and a lot of those shot up in popularity, especially once we turned on the FB like button. We've been live for 1.5 years now. We started seeing real traffic (as in, keyword searches, not just a search for our exact forum name) about 4 months in.
About a month or two actually because we had some sites already linking to us prior to our re-openning in 2011.
I would say after the first 6 months on any forum I run, I start to get search engine members. I aggressively work on relevant back links from the get go so search engine traffic can be sooner than normal. I am happy with those times as well.
Depends on the site. For my forum, probably a few months. For my news sites, about two days (although in this case, I'm talking 'search engine members' as commentators, since no one joins a blog to comment).
So you get a ton of referral traffic? My referral traffic currently counts for 39.3% of my traffic, but I see that percantage rising soon.
