We're pleased to announce the release of the fully supported version of vBulletin 5 Connect. We have removed the beta label from vBulletin 5 Connect, and we are now providing technical support to our customers of this product.

The initial 5.0 release will feature some functionality that has never existed in previous versions. There will also be features that were present in vBulletin 4 that will not be available in vBulletin 5 Connect until version 5.0.1.

The following brand new functionalities have been added to enhance both the administrative and end user experiences of vBulletin 5 Connect:

    · The new Site Builder provides customizable page templates, drag-and-drop configuration and in-line site editing that give you greater control over the look, feel and functionality of your community. This new utility is the only of its kind within the realm of forum software.

    · Dynamic Content Discovery – A re-architected search function along with customizable content modules provide higher quality search results and allow for more granular search criteria.

    · A New, Modernized UI – Enjoy a clean, up-to-date design that supports easier forum navigation for members and visitors alike.

    · Expanded Media Capabilities – Quickly post and start conversations around photos and video. Additionally, each user’s profile now contains an aggregation of all media that they have posted

The following functions were available in vBulletin 4 and are not available in vBulletin 5.0; however, they are currently planned to become available in version 5.0.1, which should go live just a few weeks after the 5.0 release. If your forum critically depends on one or more of the following, we suggest that you wait until 5.0.1 to upgrade to vBulletin 5 Connect.

    · Infractions – Hand out penalties to disruptive posters.
    · FAQ section – Add a “frequently asked questions” section to your forum.
    · Social Bookmarking – Tag and share interesting content
    · Daily Motion Video Attachments – Attach videos created on Daily Motion.
    · XML Sitemaps for Search Engines – Generate an SEO-friendly XML Sitemap for your forum.
    · Blog Categories – Organize your blog posts based on their similarity of content.
    · The Access Mask System – Control who has what access to various actions in your forum.
    · Admin CP post reporting – Receive updates on subscribed posts via admin CP.
    · Ability to discuss flagged items in the mod forum – Conduct moderator-only conversations around items that have been flagged as an issue.

The following features will be added to vBulletin 5 Connect in subsequent releases after 5.0.1:

    · Revamped CMS Module
    · Paid Subscriptions
    · IPv6 compatibility
    · Schema.org schemas used for vBulletin content types
    · Watermarked Photos
    · Add Attachments to Private Messages.
    · Create New Pages with Pre-Populated Modules
    · Canonical “Next” and “Previous” Links
    · Search will enabled for two different modes (link only vs. link + page summary)

vBulletin 5 Connect is unequivocally the best forum software available. It delivers great social capabilities, easy content discovery and posting, and a highly optimized mobile experience. vBulletin 5 Connect sites are easy to launch and manage with our Site Builder functionality. At the same time, the product maintains the hallmarks of vBulletin's popularity, including extensive customizability, strong moderation control and security, as well as world-class customer support.

For a short period of time we're offering vBulletin 3 and 4 customers a $25 discount on vBulletin 5 Connect upgrade licenses. To obtain this discount, simply enter the coupon code “UPGD25” at the time of purchase.

Thank you to all of the participants in our beta testing program who have provided feedback on the product over the past five months. This input has been invaluable as we've worked through debugging the product. While we are pleased with the current state of the product, development is never finished, and we will continue to address bugs and improvements in functionality, prioritizing this work based largely on ongoing customer feedback.

I don't know if the RSS feed doesn't work in vb5, or maybe it's one of the missing features.. but I didn't see the announcement post over here so here it is.

    Enjoy the GOLD :woot:

    Where they drunk yesterday?
No announcement, the public vB5 beta forum exists still http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-5-connect/vbulletin-5-connect-beta-feedback

    what da [****][****][****][****].

    They should post something like:

Dear early birds, you have still a unusable version, but we call it gold, which means your 30 days ticket support starts also NOW!

Enjoy and live long (with IPB or any other competitor)

They posted in the licensed customer forum because even xTreme Marketing guy doesn't believe it's gold quality and sine he values his paycheck he did as he was told by his bosses and made the announcement in a place that will not hurt him too much.

Ah, that's why the feed didn't work.
I didn't even noticed it wasn't in the normal announcement forums.
I was just happy to find the thread in the chaos searching the forums to try to find what I was after..lol

BTW.. I don't see how to get back to the main thread from this view.. (from my alert)
The only way I see is editing the URL and reloading the page..

nvm, even that didn't work.. I had to go back to the category and open the thread again.
if it's an option to do it like we use to, it's not very intuitive and I've been playing with vbulletin 5 for about half a year now...

That should tell you something ;)

btw, this is nice to see on the home page of your support forum vbulletin..lmao

I have a copy of this shit so I'll keep everyone updated on what works. I figure that will be easier than keeping everyone updated on what doesn't work.

Basically he says that vbulletin 5 Gold is not suited for live sites, and the product they really are proud of / focus on is...

    their $199 support pack.

    It's called tipitoe marketing...hahaha...

"Let's just let this out in our Licensed Customer forum and see what happens and go from there."

In other words, they don't even know what they have with "their baby" really. It is such a sign of complete ignorance to their customer's perspective, it is just mind blowing.

Me talking to myself out loud now......

I still don't understand why I get all up in a rile with IB's antics. It just isn't going to stop and that means every time IB does something stupid with vB and that is now clearly predestined to happen, it will continue to make my toe nails curl.

I need to get that emotional cut made....dammit!:wacky:

Edit: Nope....IB doesn't know what they have. Holly friggin mother of Jesus.....I don't have any toe nails anymore......

And the beta team has been just crapped on too, because I know no one in their right mind said those things and they are bound by an NDA, where they can't deny what Joe is saying. It is so wrong.....OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Their beta team has been telling them it's not ready for months. I stopped checking because everything was answered with, put it in jira if you want it to change.

Really, I mean really? I'm always Googling and landing on forums for answers. I have not seen 1 vB 5 forum. Talk about PR spin.

Of those 14 results 1 is an actual live forum. It's a new community with no content running beta 18. The others are either test setups or not online anymore.

I do think the most recent announcement about support gives the whole picture as to why it was released.

Very few went for the presale this time so they had to release it as gold to start the clock ticking on support. They are hoping that they make some money from people buying the $199 support package. It's just another indication that vbulletin has went from the best forum software to nothing more than a money grab.
