Didn't Mike Edge, the person running that hosting just cancel a person sites (vVv), and for nothing. He didn't even tell the guy he was taking his sites down first hosted with him, all because himself, shelley and another had a little argument with vVv on that XF Resource site. Wasn't that thread on XenForo talking about it labelled "Bullies from XenForo" or something? Ah... sounds like he's running a great service.... upset him and he deletes your sites from his hosting without so much as a warning.
[offtopic] But it's a little bit related with the hoster I can't reach xfshowcase since some days I'm getting only [/offtopic]
Hasn't that site been down for about 4 days now hosted with XFHost.me. Quality hosting at it's very best!
No that is incorrect, They have been down 2 days.. and that was since they moved to Chris's VPS at Nimbus. I have no control over Nimbus down time. As you can see from the last update date, Name Servers were changed on Feb 15th. Domain Name: XFSHOWCASE.COM Registrar: ENOM, INC. Whois Server: whois.enom.com Referral URL: http://www.enom.com Name Server: NS1.NIMBUSHOSTING.CO.UK Name Server: NS2.NIMBUSHOSTING.CO.UK Name Server: NS3.NIMBUSHOSTING.CO.UK Status: clientTransferProhibited Updated Date: 15-feb-2013 As for vVv, I won't discuss the privacy of a client, but he was not suspended without a reason. Should really get facts straight before you try to troll or better yet, finally realize your not very good at it and work on a better hobby. That's the 404 page since all his files were removed when he moved to Chris's VPS. Since it is a empty directory, there are no files to be found.
Well... that's what is posted on XenForo by vVv. He blew his stack over how you all treated him on XFShowcase site, ganging up using your usual "bully boy" gang tactics until he flipped his lid, then took it upon yourself to remove his sites from your hosting without any prior warning. That's what he said, there's always two sides to a story.... remember. And knowing you like I do from the past, can't say I'm surprised at reading you and Shelley was involved.
Nope, I won't go into details beyond him being suspended was due to a take down notice to our data center, which then was cleared up by Ashley afterwards. Him being suspended was even beyond my control, when it comes down from a data center to suspend a client, you don't have much choice. Again all that bully stuff was things made up in his head, flip of the same coin of be "bulling him" I have a 18 page, yes 18 page PC on xF.com with him, helping him with many things for his site. xFhost is a business and one building a very good rep in the short time time we been launched. I would never cut an account just based on if I personally liked them or not, that's just silly. Hell, I'd even put up with you as a client Gary for $10.00 a month @ragtek no problem, happy to clear it up
Thanks for the offer, but I only pay $47 year with Name Cheap. No pun intended, but forums are not worth paying even that a month now to host. That's only my view of course, and doesn't count for all forums out there, just most sat there doing nothing like mine. Well there's always two sides to a story like I said. So fair enough, I get your point about being forced to suspend him.
Never tried them for hosting, but do love them for domains and can't go wrong on a SSL for $1.99 more with a domain purchase. Yeah, we do charge a bit more then a lot of hosts, but we have a 8 core LiteSpeed license, that has a pretty hefty monthly cost right there and I refuse to oversell my resources, so I can't squeeze in more customers on a server. So it's a bit more over head for me then most hosts, yet we are still far cheaper in cost then Nimbus or URLjet.
I only run phpBB3, which is not very demanding forum software in what it needs. Plus, they do offer you a lot in cPanel to use, quite a lot actually for the money you only pay, and the site always seems to have very good uptime. So can't complaint for that price, and because my forum is pretty much dead. There's really no point me paying more than that, not when I'm happy with things.
Mike can't say anything but I will since I saw most of it go down. Basically both stewart1champ and vVv were reporting server issues in the chatbox right before, during and after xFhost.me's grand opening. I think this was cause Mike Edge was present in the Chat Box and chatting with them plus potential customers. That in my opinion was a very bad idea for both parties involved because the proper way to handle issues is through opening up a ticket or using the customer support chat. The shoutbox is unprofessional by its very nature as there were lots of profanity used by vVv and weird stories about his childhood and feet fetishes, other users would 'butt in' in their arguments and instigate which would further escalate what should really just be minor issues that could've been easily resolved while speaking one-on-one. Moral of the story is Use your host like you would like any other host. Keep it professional.
may i ask how long the domain ttl was set? Because it's really strange that i'm still coming to your 404 page.
Should be default unless it was set higher before I transfered the site from Site Ground to us via cPanel.
This site/host is 2 months old right? Hardly time to give an honest review on hosting in my opinion. Maybe a few questions for @Mike Edge about the hosting, I believe you are the owner correct? Have you hosted sites before, do you have much system admin experience, specifically cmd experience? Are you the only source of support, what happens if a site goes down and you're in bed? Do you own the server, how many do you have? What expectations do you see for the host, what makes it tailored to xenforo sites? Thanks
Is that the OP here? I saw his post at xenforo, I also did some searching and saw the copy and past of this "review" praising your services on most the other admin forums. How long have you been running your own host?
Yes, OP is Dre. We are brand new, Only opened start of this month but growing rapidly. We been averaging 2-3 new xF forums daily and lots of praise on xF.com. At the growth rate we currently have, we are going to need our 3rd server very soon. As for my exp, I have 12+ years as a linux server admin with other hosting companies along with working in one of UUNet's facilities before they sold to MCI. Tired of working for other people and time to put my knowledge to work for my own future instead.
