Has anyone here at Admin Talk considered running one of these contests? They're always fun to submit sites to and vote in on other webmaster and admin forums I've been to, and I think they could really stir up some more interest in Admin Talk in general. Maybe now's the time to the consider the awards idea I posted a few weeks back?
This would be a good idea because most people here do run a forum of their own. An admin should really think about this, its a great idea!
I would personally like this idea too. I believe something like this would work well on this forums size.
I personally think this is a good idea and could attract more forum owners. It would be nice to see forum owners competing with their content and all. What's your take on this? @Brandon
I'm very interested in this and have done it in the past. What we need is a few members (or one) to help run it. In a nutshell this group(person) would need to... start a new thread each month taking submissions gather those submissions the last week of the month evaluate the submission (pick a winner) make a thread stating the winner and why they won In the past we've graded sites on a few things like.. style customization activity Just tossing ideas out there, we can add or remove anything listed. I'm willing to help promote these and we can make a new section for winners and submissions.
A simple lil promotion on the right column would suffice. Or make use of that 468x60 footer banner. A shoutout on twitter to your xx,xxx amount of followers, too? Facebook? G+? Most of the time, SOTM/SOTY contests involve an advertising prize. Check ForumPromotion/AdminForums for examples.
Promoting it isn't really the issue on my end, I know we'll get submissions. I need someone or a team, to take care of everything I mentioned above. Any volunteers ?
I can do it, if you're up for it? I think a SOTM forum is suited better to organize this without interfering with news/announcement forum....?
Cool thanks @Carlos, I think we need another person or two as well but we can definitely start getting this together
One thing I did not in an online setting for Employee of the Month where I use to work was myself and one of the directors were on the "permanent" Employee of the Month Staff. Then the last 3 winners were also on the staff. It turned out to be really good. We got input from a variety of people we may not have otherwise gotten. So you could make it a criteria of entering that the winner be willing to serve as a SOTM committee member for a couple of months.
