Has any of you decorated your sites for Christmas (or any other holiday you're celebrating)? Did you create the theme on your own, grabbed one, modified one...?

2 years ago I made a Christmas skin for my site that was white and red. I added a snow javascript script, changed the banner, added some Christmassy images here and there (snowmen, candy canes, trees, etc.).

Last year I decided to go for something completely different, and chose green and golden as the main colors. I loved that theme... too bad I can't seem to find a backup. I used the Scriptina font for buttons, the header, footer, etc. I had to design it from scratch, but it was worth it!

I usually change the background color of my site to a seamless Christmas background or put Santa's cap over my site's logo. You can also achieve great Christmas effects with some CSS coding. In my opinion, tt doesn't makes sense to buy an expensive theme unless your site is related to Holidays or Christmas.

Why "buy" one? You can always do it yourself! It's funnier that way. I don't know about you guys, but I think being able to play with a website's design is one of the "privileges" of being a webmaster.

Yeah I spruced up my custom theme with some Christmassy things. I'd still like to do it even if it was just me that saw it :P

I love when sites do this!

I don't do it myself any more, though. When I did before, I liked how it looked, but then I didn't end up taking it down in a reasonable amount of time. February would hit and suddenly I would realize that I'd had a Christmas theme up for a full month after it should've been removed.

LOL! I actually had to set a date to remove the theme when installing it - that way I wouldn't forget. Now, what I did with my forum didn't apply to real life. Last year I ended up putting away the Christmas tree in March.

I'm the same way. It's horrible. There's just always so much pressure to get the Christmas stuff up in time and then the stress of the holidays.... once it's over, I relax and try to get back to other things, and I just put off the removal of holiday stuff. After all, there's no specific deadline like there is with the holiday date itself, right?
