I'm just curious, do you use the "what's new" feature link on forums?
I'm sure there's a "what's new" link for phpBB, MyBB, xenForo, vBulletin, IPB, etc...

Maybe it might be worded differently like with IPB, called "View New Content".
But do you prefer to use the "what's new" link or manually check the forums from the index of the page.

Please answer as a regular member, a moderator or an administrator of the forum that you're using the "what's new" link at, ;)
    Thanks!

Edited: I've strike a word and added the bold text so that users can understand the contents of this thread better, :D .

As a regular user that's about the only thing I use on forums, I even have several of my bookmarks set to go directly to the latest post.

As a mod or admin I do use it still but will usually still check out a few of the forums for staff post, reported or spam, etc..

I never use it, I much rather visit the forums to check instead.

As a member and admin I always use What's New. In fact it's my bookmark entry point. Just easier I see everything that's new since last visiting.

Most times I couldn't even tell you what any given forum's home page looks like.

I use it on my own forums and on other forums I am a member of :) I found this topic by using it here :D

I think the "what's new" feature or something similar is an important feature on a forum :)

I use it constantly as a forum member and quite often as a moderator. I am in the process of creating a forum so haven't used it as an admin but I probably would when I'm posting. Every forum that I belong to (and there are a lot), I browse by new posts or what's new links.

I use it constantly. In fact, I pretty much never step into sub-forums individually unless I am making a new thread. I keep up with forums by checking the new content every time and just skip over anything that might be in forums that I'm not interested.

I don't use it on my own forum, we have a sidebar that shows a new post whenever it's posted so it's basically useless for me. But sometimes I do use it on other forums if I can't find any interesting topics.

Yeah, I use the feature quite a bit, especially on forums powered by XenForo.

I use the feature for most of my forums. It also depends on the niche, if the niche is serious or not that active then I may not use the feature. A lot of people use this feature to check out new threads and discussions and I think it's a great idea to implement this feature.

Why would you not use it on one where it's not that active? That's when I use it even more. I can see at a glance where all the new posts are across the entire board instead of stepping into specific sub-forums repeatedly.

ALL THE TIME. That's what I hit when I log into any account. I sometimes look through the categories, but most of the time I hit the new posts button to see whats' been updated on the site
