At my forum I have received suggestions from my members, some of them have been good suggestions, and other suggestions not so good. I listen to their suggestions, but if I don't like the idea then I will just comment saying something like I don't think it's a good idea, but I'll say it more politely then that if possible. Do you listen to your members suggestions?

Of course. How's your forum supposed to improve if you ignore people's suggestions for how to improve it?

I listen to all suggestions and implement a fair amount of them.

I open to any user's suggestion and I'll have a think about all of them. If I agree they're a good idea and it will be beneficial, then yes, I'd implement it. If I don't agree, I'll just respond letting them know why I don't think it's a good idea, but still thanking them for the suggestion.

I agree, but there are forum owners that don't take their users suggestions into consideration, they don't even update the forums themselves.

And most of those forum owners have rather unsuccessful forums because of it. If you don't even update the forums yourself, how do you ever expect for your forum to succeed?

Even updating can fail I would think. I know with a forum that I modded back in 2009, the owners upgrades from vb3 to 4 and they said they lost a lot of members because of the new theme and the layout.

I always listen to my members after all they are keeping my forum going. If I don't like an idea I will say that I don't think it would work here, but I haven't really come across that yet with my forum.

True. You can say that there's a lesson to be learnt here:

Always listen to your members, since its your members that are the reason your forum even has a community.

My site is very democratic. Even if there are ideas that I THINK would be good and they disagree with, if the site votes in the majority i usually listen to them because it is my responsibility to bring a good user experience.

I always think that it's wise to listen to the members. If their suggestion is something that could be beneficial to the board and not harmful, then it's worth consideration imo. It makes me feel good whenever I see a forum with a suggestions section because it shows that the staff cares about what the posters think.

    Of course!

I won't always implement what they're asking for. I leave it open to discussion, though, and I do consider the suggestions given. Sometimes they're really good and things I wouldn't have thought of myself. Other times, they're just ridiculous, and at the end of the day, it's still my forum and I make the final decision.

I always listen, and more often than not it's something I couldn't do even if I wanted to due to limitations of the software. I've had some great suggestions too, and some not-so-great as well. lol

Yes I do listen to their requests. However if it is a whinge about the swearing or anything that is allowed they get thrown out from my forum.

Yes. I prioritize member and staff suggestions over anything else. I'm always happy to hear (good and constructive) feedback. I then discuss the idea with the staff members and make a decision.

I guess that makes me a huge fan of democracy.
