I've been trying for years to get my community listed on DMOZ, but I've since stopped trying because the editors never added my site for the category my site should be in.

So, have you ever gotten your site listed in Dmoz's directory?

I tried but it turns out a senior moderator for a competing board managed my section. I could've fought it but too much work for too little return, IMHO.

I've had a few sites listed and it is a nice bump in backlinks but it seems you'll only get listed if you happen to meetup with one of the editors.
There is a guy in Kansas that has a forum who's an editor and I was lucky enough to get my sites listed.

It is a nice push in backlinks and it's always nice to say you're dmoz listed, but it's really not as big of a deal as it was 5 years ago.

The dmoz listing and the google directory listing are the two best directories that you'll be listed in, in regards to being in dmoz.

Nope. I didn't even bother. It might've been relevant years ago, but I wasn't big enough at that point to think it was worthwhile. And now, at a point where it could potentially matter, I don't think DMOZ holds nearly enough weight any more, so I don't really care.

I have gotten 100s of sites listed in DMOZ, but I have never seen any real great upside from it. Also, I have said this before and been attacked, but most of the editors can be bribed to get your site listed. I know because I have done it more times than I can count. I do not know any of those people anymore since I havnt really been in the whole SEO world for while.. But they are out there and it is of my opinion that is how most of those sites get listed. I have tried to do it legit and NEVER once gotten my site listed...So, yeah... It is what it is..

Same here, some editors from my category were on Digitalpoint's forums, but I never pressed the issue to them.

    @Cerberus:
With that being said, how much do you pay for the bribe?

I guess it depends anywhere between 10 to 30 bux. The highest I ever paid was 30 bux way back when I thought it meant something.. But years later doesnt seem to mean much either way.. LMAO This is usualy where that Bird guy comes in from TAZ and says hes an editor and I am a liar... So inb4that :P

Nope, never got a site listed in DMOZ, at least in the last few years. Don't think my current topic even has a category there due to how out of date the directory is.

I'm a little bit disturbed about how apparently you need to bribe the editors just to have a chance at getting your site included. Shows how utterly pathetic the management is over there now and how corrupt the whole thing is.

I've tried to get my sites listed on DMOZ, but it's such a pain in the @$$ to do so. They never respond back to your requests. :(

You know, it'd be nice if they actually contacted you after your request and outright said whether you got accepted or not. It wouldn't have to be immediately, just some sign that they actually look at submissions rather than just throwing them in the next rubbish bin and pretending they never received them. I must have submitted some of my sites about four times so far, and I have no idea whether they received even one of these submissions. They say not to repeatedly submit your site, but how's anyone supposed to follow that rule if you have no idea whether they even looked at it?

If you have absolute proof of this and not just hearsay or third person info then contact by pm either here or at http://www.resource-zone.com/forum and I will look into it.

To date not one of these people that post about editors taking bribes have actually come up with any evidence. I know this for fact because I have investigated a number of these claims. It pisses me off when people throw around this type of garbage, but, fail to give editor names, categories submitted to or any other information. Corrupt editors are shown the door real quick. It's pretty easy to find them when you know what to look for.

Seriously?? Do you honestly think I would sellout the people who I payed? Why would anyone do that? What if I need their help again in the future? Plus, I payed them money for their service. Say I tell you who and you reverse all their additions to DMOZ.. I hate to say this but only a complete moron would help you.. And I sir am no moron.. You do realize that I LIKE corrupt editors right? I am 10000% for them as they are willing to help me.. Are you that Birdy guy from TAZ?? He always likes to make the same argument if you can not prove it you are a liar.. But proving it does not benefit me in anyway.. I am better off knowing the ones I can bribe

Same old, same old. I heard it a thousand times. BS then, BS now. I think I'll look into your claims. Shouldn't be hard to connect the dots. Interesting enough that when someone posts something like this it turns out to be totally false. A bunch of hot air. In my experience 1 in 1000 is true and they are caught very fast after the claims are made.

cpvr, yes I am an editor. Been one since 1999 when it all started. I am a top level editor or meta editor. I can edit everywhere, approve new editors and do a whole lot of other things. My specialty is investigating editor abuse although I don't have as much time as I used to.

Well, then, could you look into getting my site listed? I've applied and its never be approved for the Virtual pets category, but one of my competitors is listed, and their site isn't updated frequently. And I think that's kind of wrong considering the amount of quality sites that are usually approved.

Heck, could you try and add the category my site should theoretically be listed in? Because there's not even a category to submit it to on the DMOZ at the moment, at least not in English.

Do you not understand why no one ever gives you proof? If they do it hurts them... So of course same ole same ole.. As I stated before only a complete moron would help you..But just for you :)

You say it like you're proud of what you're doing. This is cheating.

What's worse is that you're bragging about bribing editors into submitting your site to DMOZ.

Then, to top it off, you argue with an editor of DMOZ. AWS is a tough person to deal with.
