My goal isn't really all that lofty. All I really want is the right amount of people so that no matter what time it is in the 24 hour time span, my forum stays active.

I guess in theory, with that I wouldn't need a mass army of people. Just a fair amount of dedicated ones.

However, the leading Call of Duty 4 Board is at 1 million posts, and 100,000 members.

Other leading boards are around 50 thousand members, and above 5xx,xxx posts.

The goals for my community are to:

    • Get to 1000 unique visitors a day
    • Get to 10,000 members
    • Start generating revenue through ads (without using adsense) - at least enough to pay for the running of the site
    • continue to add new features (I coded the site without any software so it is an ongoing process)
My site was just started in July so we have a while to go before I get to these goals but I am constantly promoting my forum and I believe I have a niche that is popular right now (I dont see reality tv going anywhere anytime soon). I am hoping that if I keep posting and keep promoting that something good will come from the hard work. Wish me luck! :)

My short term goals (1 year or less) are...

    • Award all 30 "Founding member" banners to members over the next 2-3 months
    • Grow to 1000 members. Currently at 82 so this will be tough.
    • Take my 202 threads to 100+.
    • Take my messages from 1500+ to 10000
    • Get 10 member build theads started and have them grow to over 100 replies each
    • Have a 1 year anniversary contest with some nice prices. The big goal would be to have them being offered by sponsors rather then come directly from my pocket.
    • Pick up 30+ quality, steady members that love the forum enough to want to see it grow.
    • Currently at 210 twitter followers. I want to grow that to 500+.
    • Take my 37 facebook likes to 200+
