Basically, I've been contacted in the past by various people in my niche, but they didn't offer a whole lot, so I kindly rejected their offers, and plus, I'll never sell out, even if the price is a lot.

So, anyways, has anyone ever tried to buy you out? What was your response?

    never say never ;)

I've been approached in the past, but never took them up on their offers at the time.

I stick by my site regardless, so yes, never.

Was contacted by another admin few weeks ago. He was interested if I was selling topadmin.net. We didn't get into details, since I replied that I have absolutely no interest in selling my forum. I have a very long term plan with it, so it won't change 'hands' too soon. Anyway, it was nice to see my work appreciated, since the site is still very young so might not be worth too much at this moment. Not that I care anyway, since I am not selling.

I had someone a couple of months ago who was after the domain name, they weren't interested in the site content though.

It's not uncommon. If they already have a site with some good content, getting just the domain name would be better, since it's a better price.

It's as funny as when people contact me via my contact form "HEY, I DO SEO WORK HIRE ME!!"
Meh, shut up. I get 57% search traffic and its increasing by the month, I don't need some low-life SEO company to do work for me.

And plus, on this subject, I don't think anyone can share the same vision that you have for your community.

I never tried buying out at forum, but I wouldn't try it even if I could afford it. I don't like merging forums, because there are likely to be the same users registered on both forums so it would make everything a mess.

As for selling my forum, good luck to any buyers that contact me. I'd never sellout, poker is my life, and I'm putting my life into this site. I want this forum until the day that I die.

No, however I've sold my forums voluntarily before.

I just don't see myself ever selling the forum that I will be creating soon. It is intended to help others not just to generate revenue. In the past someone did offer to buy an old forum I had but I knew the members would not likely want to see a new owner. It was a close knit community.

That's the spirit. If you have a personal attachment to your community, I can see why selling isn't an option at all.

I really would not want to sell a forum. For me, a forum is intended to help others and to create a great community for myself and others,. My goal would not be to sell it as I would not want to see my "pet" project change hands especially if the new owner did not moderate it well.
