Let's see you had a few new users - and they're found on other forums and such. So, they join your community and start posting threads that they've used on other forums before.

How do you feel about this? Do you delete content that has been found on the web before, or do you just leave it alone?

If I ever saw content that's already on another forum, I delete.

But if I saw a post that C&P from another article on a website like a blog, a news site, or whatnot....I leave it alone, contact the person and ask not to do it again. But then you risk losing those members, too. I have done this before, and the posting has come to a standstill.

    *mopes in corner* :(

Well, if they post similar threads/post it's OK. If they copy-paste them, then we have a problem. Am already flexing my muscles against some people who do this.

I don't see anything wrong with similar topics/posts because you can branch off of them and make them your own threads. Taking excerpts from content, and not including any links, is a great way to get the topic removed to begin with. You're doing right though.

For me, this is case by case.

If this is actually the original creator of the post AND it actually starts the topic, then I'll let it slide because of the potential conversation it may spawn.

If we're talking about some copy paste of some mundane answer that someone is spreading around all over the place then yeah....stuff WILL be done about that nonsense.
