Do you usually promote someone to be your partner and help you administrate your forum? I just promote people who I really trust (usually it's my brother), I must know the future administrator for at least a month before promoting him. But here is my warning: do not trust anyone on the internet, they can pretend to be your friend but then when they get promoted they do bad things to your forum.

I never hire an admin on any forum, I never have problems administrating a forum by myself.

That's a good way to keep your forum safe. The other administrator can, in seconds, ruin the forum that took months to build.

I always think any forum should have at least 2 administrators once they reach the first goal of 100 members. Because someone needs admincp access when your forum gets bigger over time when your offline incase something goes wrong to make back ups for you and stuff.

The Hazey has only just got a second admin even though it has over 80k posts on it. I find forums with less then 10k posts with 3/4 admin's just plain silly.

I always have, until he moved to South Africa, my partner on the server as my tech admin with full access. That way if my site went down or was hacked, he could get in and replace everything.

Terrorz, altho there isn't a undeletable user section in the config file, there is a place to add the number that is part of your member ID to protect yourself.

What do you exactly mean? Im confused... If its about posts, I set the permissions to where no one can delete their posts.

No, in the ACP>Users>Administrators...see if you or anyone is listed as a Super Admin. If not, go to your config file in the ftp, it's under Library I believe and edit it to add your member number there. Your number is the last digit in your user url. http://admin-talk.com/members/terrorz.1/ In your case, obviously it's 1 but if you add anyone else, you need to put there number in there as well.

But don't some forums have a "Founder access" and "Admin access"? I remember hearing it somewhere. Forgot the difference though.

They may but it won't stop a hacker from deleting them. If your ID is protected in the config file, only the one signed in can make changes and not from the back end either. Any changes to your profile have to be made on the front.

Also, in most forums, if you are a member of the "protected" group, only you and others in the same group can access certain admin functions. But you HAVE to be in the config file in XF for that to work.

I have one other administrator and no moderators. It's just someone that I trust and that I've known a long time. We don't really get a lot of spam so it's not a big deal but it just worked out like that.

I always say the admin position is the most important of any site and you should only have more that one, if you can not keep up with the workload or you do not have the Technical ability and need someone for that side of things (but then if you don't, you should really ask yourself should you really be running a site).
