    Hi There,

My name is DooBDee. I used to heavily invest a lot of time in phpBB (with lots of mods and styles released for 2.x line), but then a had a career opportunity that I could not miss, so I have been out of action for some time.

I used to be a moderator, then administrator at phpbbstyles.com, but that website was then sold to template monster and I didn't take much participation in it after as there was not much leadership after the takeover.

Now I am back and involved with IP.Suite. It's interesting what's been going on between all the software types (vB....) I think I've missed an awefull lot!?

Anyway, I'm here becuase I'm working on a new relationship and love(making) forum which I am looking to promote and manage.

    Any tips greatly appreciated.

Look forward to speaking with you all.

Welcome to the community @DooBDee How are you? Well, vBulletin has been hard at work developing their latest version. Lots of stylevar changes though. So, it might make it easier for designers to create new layouts.

Hi cpvr and thank you for the welcome message :) I am 22, so get involved with this very young. I've grown up with the stuff practically (apart from last 2 or 3 years) as I moved into my career. I am still at my current role (I coordinate online marketing for a FTSE250 business) but it seems that I moved just when all the excitement and competition between the software types kicked off!!

From what I make out, it seems there is a somewhat (small?) shift to XenForo? IP.Suite has come a long way too - I am impressed. What's happened to vB?

I haven't had a chance to look at the open source platforms just yet, but are they any big movers/shakers there?

    DooB

@DooBDee Ya, a lot of people have been moving to Xenforo. I don't really bother with IP.Suite, I like the vBulletin CMS system though(is a fan boy of vBulletin). I'm not sure about the open source platforms.

    Welcome to the forums @DooBDee
I started off on phpbb back in the 2.0.x days, I'm glad you've joined us.

As far as the opensource/free boards, I think it's still MyBB, SMF, and phpBB as the top three.

I think open source is the easiest way to get "into" forums. Then you can move onto the commercial ones :-)

Anyway, good to be hear! :grouphug:
