Hi, I'm not sure what the going rate is for a moderator for a social network and forum. I currently run a partially active Digital Art social network. I would like to grow the site quite a lot and get it more active. My time is limited to spend on the site is limited on a daily basis as I work all day. So my question is, if want to hire a moderator or someone to interact more often with the community, how much should I pay?
Personally, I would'nt pay anyone because it will most likely mean that your moderator is there because they are getting paid to be there, and not because they want to be there and help/contribute to the community, etc.
Thanks for the feedback Ashley. How would I go about aquiring moderators then? I run a digital art community and its fully up and running. Would like to get more people involved on the project. Take a look, tell me what you think? Artrift - Digital Art Community
The first thing I would do is try and build up a member base by advertising your community. You may also wish to use advertising services that allow you to create threads that you are looking for staff or contact people who are looking for a mod position that you think may be interested in your forums genre.
You should try to find a user inside your community that would love to help out. I wouldn't pay for a moderator because most people will work for free if they enjoy your community.
