Alright, this question is probably dumber than my last question if you remember it.
The problem I'm having is that my favicon will not update. I've replaced the default xF favicon via Cpanel for every single style that I have installed and it still won't update.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there something in the ACP that I have to update? Let me know, and thanks!

Hello Savvy, I'm not Kaiser but I can still offer some help :)

When going to: http://www.yourdomain.com/favicon.ico does it show your new one? Also, is there any code within your style manually calling the default FavIcon

Lastly, it could take a while to show up and replace the old one due to old cache lying around, as it took a little time for mine to update when I changed mine for my site last month

It doesn't show the favicon. Mine or the default xF favicon. :(

I thought it could be the cache too but I don't think it is. I uploaded the favicon days ago and have cleared my cache 2-3 times since then.

is your favicon a .ico file called favicon and hosted within the public_html directory?

It is, I just uploaded it and it overwrites the old icon. It won't show up and come to think of it the xF favicon never showed up. Maybe there is a template edit?

Hey Savvy, as Ashley has suggested it should be in your root, so the favicon should be for example www.admin-talk.com /favicon.ico And its normal for it to not show up (Browser related), after uploading it try clearing all your browser caches, and others things and it should show up.

I've noticed that Firefox is a lot slower updating favicons than the other browsers. Even clearing the cache doesn't work a lot of times. It takes it a few hours or even days sometimes to update it, but it will eventually.

One thing that I have often done is going to the favicon.ico page and constantly reloading so for example I would re-load www.admin-talk.com /favicon.ico in my browser until the new favicon would show up and then it would get updated. But yes FF takes awhile and the same with Chrome.

For some reasons it takes a while for your browser to recognize a new favicon once you've updated it. Ive experienced that problem myself a couple times.

I also noticed it takes a while to notice it but by clicking Ctrl+F5 it should show the new one. Or well, it normally does for me.

Yea a hard refresh does help in some cases but not always.

clearing the browser cache/cookies may sometimes do it, depends on when it was last updated, and what's been cached, etc.
