What do you think of staff/members that go OCD over spelling/grammar mistakes and like to make the persons life hell who made the mistake, etc. ???

I honestly do not have a problem with spelling/grammar. But I do have a problem with broken English! I just had to ban a person on my forum because their English was so broken you couldn't understand what they were trying to say.

The thing that kills me is they made good posts prior to yesterday. I don't know if they were drunk or if it was a different person using their account. But I had to clean up a mess on my forum yesterday. I had to delete over 10 posts this person made.

Personally I don't mind or care if staff/members make silly spelling/grammar mistakes, after all we are only human and not everyone has perfect English typing/writing skills and I hate members/staff that will quote your post and point out every little mistake you make, making you feel embarrassed over the mistakes, etc.

Broken English/posts that make no sense at all will be dealt with accordingly

Have to agree, that is certainly something I would never do. You would at least expect them to send you a PM rather than quoting you publicly. If it gets to a point where the posts are not understandable than I would see a reason to let them know through a friendly PM, but not for simple errors.. people who most often make grammar and punctuation mistakes are because english is not their first language so it would be very rude to constantly get angry with them for it, as they really cant change it.

I really don't care about people who don't use proper punctuation, spelling, and/or grammar. As long as other members can understand what the user is saying, it's fine. However, one of my rules in every forum is to avoid using 'text speak' such as "lol, u r lyk tose ppl over dere" or stuff like that.

I, myself, am a grammar geek and I try to make my spelling and whatnot nearly perfect. I really don't know why. It's just a habit I have grown accustomed to over the years.

I guess I can call myself a grammar geek then too. And about Text speak I find that very annoying, and there is no excuse for that, its basically spam.

Ive never experienced this. Staff would not have a reason to be a grammar nazi in the 1st place since we have nothing in our rules stating that members must use proper grammar and spelling at all times.

I dont have any sort of rule like that either, and never would. It can discourage alot of people, and specially people whose first language aren't english. I see some forums often having a rule for "text/leet speak" which is fine though.
