I'm asking this here and not in a specific software's subforum because I'm not sure who can or can't.
But my question is can you schedule posts? I know that's a feature that many bloggers use when they have time to write a few blog posts and don't want them all to appear on their site at the same time.

Does IPB, XF, vB, MyBB etc have such a feather? Say you have a handful of ideas that you think would generate discussion, but they would all fit in the same forum/category. So you don't want to post three new thread in there at once, you want each to have time to generate some discussion. So maybe you could post one right now (say it's 9am), but you could "future post" the 2nd one to be at 2pm, and the other at 7pm (or the next day).

Now of course you can say, "Just make sure you come back at 2pm and 7pm". But maybe you've got a full day at work. Or a family reunion. Or whatever other reason.

But does anyone have this functionality in its core feature set? Or are there any mods that would do this?

I have used all 3, there is no such feature but I know exactly what you mean.

It would be a very handy feature. So you basically create a thread for a specific section, and it will be in some type of queue then you would set a time for it when it needs to be posted. Am I right?

Right, you know how in Wordpress you can type up your blog post, and then either publish it right then, or you can set the time/date for the post to go live. That's what I mean.

And a friend has pointed out that in IPB it is possible. When creating a new topic, click your "Options" button at the bottom (or to the side depending on your skin) and you'll see an option for a "Topic Open Time" and a "Topic Close Time".

So I think you can do it with IPB straight out of the box.

oops, ETA that I may have misunderstood this feature. I may be wrong w/ the "open/close" option.
