How do you deal with Members who never read your rules and constantly break them? Forum's have rules for a reason. Whenever I join a forum, I always read their rules, I already know what the rules will be about (General rules that all forums follow) but I still take a quick glance at them.

I dont have a problem with members not reading the main rules as they should know them already from foruming, because all forums basically follow the same rules, but when you have sections on your forums such as a Marketplace, advertisement section and other indivisual sections which have their own set of rules you would expect members to read those the most.

It get me mad when member don`t read the rules yes I know most forum rules are very much the same but I still read them more so the once in the advertising section as all forums have different rules there
I have even had one member tell me my rules in my advertising section was to strict because you need 25 posts before advertising but my forum is not really a advertising forum I just have that section as a extra for my members

Your rule for advertising is perfectly fine, your forum is not an advertising forum so you can have any guidelines set. Now if a advertising forum required that many posts to advertise I would see a big problem with that.

I agree with you if it was a advertising forum I would not have that sort of rules but I still think there should be some rules even say 5 posts before promoting

Yea, over here on AdminBB we require 10 posts for anyone to advertise their forum. Anyways we have gone off topic, back on topic :P

Have to agree with that. People just need to start following them more often.

Hmmm what to do with them...follow the procedures as normal, it's their own fault for not reading the rules in the first place...

I think you need to give a warning with a reminder to follow the rules
along with the link to the rules
If the do it again then the a second warning telling them if they don`t follow the rules the could end up with a ban , and if they still don`t follow then you have to ban them and that will be their own fault

Yea, that is what I do.. I usually send them a friendly PM warning and link them to the rule they are breaking. But I would give a temporary Ban or permanent Ban after they break a rule for the second time even after me reminding them about it.

If a member doesn't read the rules, I'll just give them a small warning and direct them over to the rules. If they still break a rule, I'll do it again. If said member still breaks the rules, I'll give them a small ban. If that member comes back and still breaks the rules, I'll somehow edit his/her permissions to make it so the only thread they can read is the rules.

Pretty good format for people who break rules. I do the same, but instead of removing the permissions for the last step I give a permanent ban.
