My website is called Michigander Today. I uses Michigander because the forum is about Michigan. And I used Today because we stay up on current events. But I do make a point to only post important current events. I don't want to make a thread every time a cop breaks wind! :coffee:

A forum I had around 3 years ago was called Share Central, the reason for that is because I had initially created the forum for members to be able to share their opinions, idea's and for members to be able to post up help topics and members would share their views on how people could solve their problems, this forum ended up becoming a general chat forum in the end which became a success unfortunately I closed the forum after nearly 2 years. My second forum was called Chat Addicts as it was a forum for people who enjoyed chatting about anything and everything.

TheGodHypothesis.com. An old term that has been around for a long time (surprised it was available). The God Hypothesis. The hypothesis that God exists as an entity in our world and the evidence, for or against, hist existence. We also touch on pseudo-sciences (or maybe Sciences to you!) and other weird aspects of our world

I came up with Revillution after thinking about what to name my new general discussion forum but it was also to be used as an entertainment site similar to ones like QJ, IGN, and a few others that were around at the time. I remember a forum in particular i used to go on named Nucleus and a user on there wanted to start a forum back in the day and he was toying around with words like Forum Revolution or Revolution Today or whatever. However, I remember someone saying to come up with a similar name but maybe mis-spell it. So I was like "hmm Revolution.......Revillution?" I did a quick search and the domain was available so I purchased it. :)

We came up with the name GamesHuddle after hours of worse names. We're a gaming forum and decided we wanted to make it obvious enough what it was to an outsider; hence the "games". Huddle means to have a team/group meeting and we thought it was a good comparison to a forum.

Picking a name is a tricky business though. We had LOADS of great ideas. It was just a shame someone else had the same great idea years ago and snagged the domains

I own Another Admin Forum... I wanted to start an admin forum and wanted to be unique... I thought Another Admin Forum would be perfect plus it adds some humor to it... :P

Also a lot of highly competitive admin forums will censor admin forum and change their domain to be filtered to anotheradminforum ;) That part I didn't realize until someone told me about it haha

I came up with ThePokerTalk because I first thought of PokerTalk which was taken, and settled for ThePokerTalk.com. It wasn't hard to think of this name, and I knew it was the right name to start my forum after I seen it was available. Hopefully one day I can own PokerTalk.com though.

Well I have several sites, but I'll give you the explanation of my food one.

I already had a couple sites that were based on "quirky" so I already knew I wanted the site to be called "Quirky Something." Then it was a matter of finding something food-related that wasn't already taken. "Quirky Cooking" would have been ideal, but it was already taken, so no go there. I went through several other options that were all taken too, like Quirky Kitchen and whatnot, before finally finding that Quirky Cookery was free.

My family business is into mining, 10years back i posted this at a thread in one phpBB resource site and a member called me hey you are a 'Miner' then idea stuck me and i changed my username to 'Miner' in all forums i take part.

I had passion for designing graphics and started providing free forum graphics like buttons, rank images etc and my name Miner became familiar among forum admins, then i learned to design forum (phpBB) themes and the response was good next i felt there was good need of skins for vbulletin in 2005 and few members helped me to learn designing themes for vb3 at TAZ check this thread http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10924

And when i was ready to plunge into commercial themes i was searching for numerous domains that where skin/theme related and one fine day this idea stuck me why not use my name Miner and add skins for the new domain and i booked Minerskinz.com the 'Z' i added is just an sentiment plus at that time vbulletinskinz.com was leader in theme business.

We started off with a name"JASO" Japan anti scam org.

Then we really needed to widen our reach, and came up with "AFI" Anti fraud international.org, so we moved to what we hope is a more international website.

Confab-It was actually one of my friend's ideas. Confab is short for Confabulation, which means to casually talk.

I thought it was a good idea since it represents our forum's purpose and is not as common as "generaltalk" or something along those lines. The problem is, I'd never even heard of the word and I don't think a lot of people have either.

Active duty United States Coastguardsmen are nicknamed "Coasties", therefore, Coastie Chicks! It's for anyone associated with the Coast Guard. I have had two women complain that it was sexist, but it was intended to be a playful name with a baby chick.....not a "hot chick".

I had a really tough time thinking a name for my forum, it really did take me months to think of one. Since if you don't have a cool name for your forum, users would not join. But in the end, I started to get some few ideas by looking at a few forum lists, and a few website names. Even thought of some abbreviations so that I can fit words into it.
But in the end, I thought, if I just think of a 'average' name I can just put that up and can always change it later when my forum gets a big enough community.

I actually created a forum for a new game called ECOL Tactics Online. I named it ecoltacticsforum. It was simple and straightforward, letting my visitors know they are visiting a discussion forum about the game.

I used ecoltacticsforum because it was good for the search engines. I could get ranked easily if the game takes off and have plenty of players. Although the player base of the game is rather small, I still get a small handful of people visiting a day. The only problem is I get a lot of bots visiting the site, hence inflating the amount of views. Oh well, what can you do about that? :(

I like short and snappy names, so I just use abbreviations of the subject then with a letter or small 3 letter word at the end like Hut, Den etc
