While I am not for it, I am not against it either, people should have a right to free speech and if that means having a .xxx domain than why not. Its not really a big difference considering the large amounts of adult websites on the internet, really wont change anything if they didn't approve it.

I've been aware of it for a while, I think it would be a wise move to ensure new adult content is easily identified, but it won't help or solve any problems with the adult content sites out there already though

Good point didn't think of it that way, yea it would be a nice way to identify adult websites if they had a .xxx tld. And if they didnt approve it for thinking it would be a bad thing to do, it wouldn't considering there will always be adult websites.

More than three months after this was approved, .xxx failed to get the excitement of the online community. It is precisely because the targeted market -- adult -oriented webmasters -- are not sold out to the idea. Why? It is because if you are using this new TLD, your site would now be easily tagged as for adults only. We all know that the market for adult contents is not just made up of adults...sad but true and young people are known to be the most aggressive part of the adult market.

I have not yet seen a site using .xxx. Will Google it now...

First I've heard of this, to be honest, but it does sound like a good domain to use if you were to create a Website that you could join if you were of age (18 in some countries and 21 in others). So I have the same feelings about this as Kaiser. I have yet to see any modern day forum using this domain, though. Although, despite the fact that I am an adult, I do tend to stay away from 18+ forums as sometimes those have way too much foul language for my liking.

Very good point, its sad but true.. their purpose is of course to have young visitors. Thats where they get most of their traffic from, so using a .xxx might not help them as you have mentioned.
