Writing can be quite a big challenge for some people. Lucky are those who really have the penchant and the gusto to express their ideas via the written words.

Sadly, not all of us are fond of writing articles. Fortunately, this limitation need not be a big handicap as a webmaster because it is no easy to hire quality writers at a rate anybody can afford. With great supply, writers can be found everywhere and when you get a good one stick to that person.

Are you into hiring writers or you write on your own exclusively?

I actually have a few people who help me out in writing articles and content for my site. It's really useful for me as I hold a generally busy schedule and without other writers helping out, the amount of new content would be drastically less.

I was thinking about creating a new staff group for writers whose job would be to write articles for us..

Yeh, it's a good idea. On MyPureBB, we have an application form that people can use that emails applicant details to me. I then just promote their user account to the right user level.

But its very hard to find writers nowadays who can truly take their time and write up something very outstanding. I am a good writer, but I dont have the time.. I need to run AdminBB and do other things.

Well, I've already found a few who've given up time for me :) So long as people know you're looking, you're bound to find a few.

Can't say that I have or needed a team like this, maybe for a future project, but otherwise I'd assign writing tasks to other members of staff, etc. if I couldn't do it myself

I like writing my own articles, whether on a blog or forum, especially if it's my own site. But, it does take an intense amount of time. And, everything I write is spun out six different ways cause there's just so much research material left over after the research phase is over. No need for any of that to go to waste. So I usually end up with a couple forums posts, a blog article, a hub and a knol. It's just a more efficient way to write.

However, I had contemplated hiring someone more proficient in tech matters as a writer, maybe per article, but not as a staff job with salary if my beta site ever gets off the ground.

Really though, I'm still toying with directions on the site so I couldn't say that would even be needed.

For most projects, I can do my own writing though. Anyway, i wouldn't be opposed to the idea of hiring someone.

Sometimes its time for fresh content and a fresh voice. I've hired a few of my friends to write reviews on games in my niche, but other than that, I haven't done any hiring. It's always nice to see what someone else can come up with over your mind. It's amazing really and sometimes some money gets people motivated to write splendid articles or reviews. It's worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.

I do, it costs more for you to spend you time on it then to just pay someone the $1 for every 100 words articles.

I have two writers that work on a performance basis. We have a wordpress plugin that tracks views to their articles via Google Analytics and pays based on a CPM we set.

Ya, and not to mention how some writers are more skilled than yourself. I know I consider myself a writer but when it comes down to doing reviews or anything, I outsource it to other people who can do it better than me, but SEO changes and basic content, I'll do on my own.

I don't have a team but I do outsource my content creation. My favorites outsourcing sites are odesk and iwriter. The bad thing about outsourcing is that you are never fully satisfied with what you get.

You have to apply super-check when you engage writers as otherwise they would hijack the show. Moreover the intermediary gets more benefit than the writer himself or the person utilizing his services.

With plans to launch a content site for my DJ forum I just hired a copy editor. She has a degree in journalism or technical writing or something like that. I'll still be writing my own stuff, she'll just be cleaning it up. I write well but my grammar isn't always the best and some of my tutorials could stand to be more concise.

I don't believe in hiring people to write content for my site
I write all my own content

But when I get lazy it can be a pain in the but to keep my sites updated
I try to have self containing sites but I can't really get that to work too often.

Im usually on the other end. I write articles for blog and forum owners, to help them around. I usually dont charge much since i dont see myself as a proffesional.. But i do my work well :)
I think hiring content writers is a great way to start off a few sites :)

Sometimes its nice to see a piece writing by someone else. I'm glad I have the blogs feature on my community, its free content and a lot of the blog posts are actually interesting.
