Do you guys use traffic exchanges as a source of traffic? If you do what site/s do you use?

I used to use EasyHits4U but now I'm using You Promo Ten. Its currently in Beta state and am loving it!

I really dont see a point in them, all you basically do is click each others websites if I am correct? Which I get anyway. I guess its good for new websites, but still a few clicks isn't much.

You are correct, these are actually really good for sites, not forums. Because it boost you view stats and not your members.

Still not much though, you could just advertise your forum/site regularly and still get clicks instead of exchanging it if you know what I am trying to say.

Ofcourse i do, not saying i would do this either. But there are easy to click sites where you just leave the window open for free views. Its just 'another' way to get views :P

Just like you, I used to use EasyHits4U. I soon realized that most people don't even look at the site. Many just sit and wait for that 15 second timer to stop then move on. As soon as I realized that, I quit and stopped using it.

Yea its really not worth it. If you do some advertising on your own, you will be sure to get genuine traffic.

I have seen sites like those and they are completely useless. As others have said you are best of just advertising and getting genuine visitors instead of using sites like those.

I'm scared to use traffic exchanges for fear of getting banned from Google Adsense. They say directly in their guidelines that a site is not to engage in traffic exchanges or auto-surfs.

There are so many legitimate and easy ways to increase traffic for a forum or site, these exchanges are not necessary.

Besides, the real aim of getting traffic is to convert the random visitor into an active (posting) forum member who sticks around to start and respond to discussion and who maybe occasionally clicks the ads, buys from the forum store or otherwise supports the site. Isn't that the point of all that traffic, not just page views?

I agree with you 100% and I never knew Google prohibits them. Traffic Exchanges are useless anyway.

Traffic exchanges are a definite no-no with Google Adsense. Not everyone would have heard about it. If you want to read more, here is the link to the official Google Adsense blog where they discuss auto-surfs and other types of prohibited traffic exchanges that artificially manipulate the traffic results.

(I hope it's OK to post the link).

Sure of course its okay, people need to be aware of what they are getting into by using traffic exchange sites.

Not really, that wouldnt matter to them. Your content and layout would matter. Plus, you want to look at what moneymaking mom mentioned.
