Well I am interested to know if you use forum rank images on your forum? I just recently added a pair here on AdminBB. I would also like to share a great website to get forum ranks: http://forumranks.net/

If you know any other sites please share :)

No not really I don't see the point of using image ranks. I think the text under the username is good enough for me. :P

On my forum, I do use ranks. I find it an easy way to see an approximate amount of posts each user has. However, I don't use images for each rank. I do this because it is sometimes a real pain to insert an image for each rank.

I use text ranks on my small board, but IMO image ranks are little much.

Not that often, as sometimes the text serves it's purpose pretty well. They are only useful when you have custom ranks like: Tech Geek, referring to the tech admin, etc.

And just to clear up the confusion I was referring to forum rank images and not titles as they different things.

some software's allow you to use your rank images & a custom rank with it. If I want a custom rank, that is not easy to understand, that is the only time I will use rank images.

I like the idea of image ranks, as it makes the board a little better-looking. Although some boards look good without them, so not all forums need them.

I used to have some very fancy ones for every staff group and member group. I've cut them out after converting the forum to xenForo. I'm taking a more minimalistic approach these days, I think forums can do without them but as said before, it does add a nice touch.

Yea its not really needed. I added them after five months of being open. They are very plain and simple which I like. And its not a complete image, its uses css.

Yep, I just had to change the text in the code to suit our usergroups, didnt have to worry about having to edit a psd or anything like that and it was easy to do. Not to mention looks just as nice as image ones.

CSS is great, it uses a gradient by the way, so its about 50% code, and 50% image.

Yes, I use forum ranks on my forum. It diversifies members, if you do not lay out common goals. Your members will be less active!

They look really nice. I've personally never used them though. What made you start using them?
