How do you deal with staff member disputes or tension within your staffing team.

Obviously I don't think anybody hires staff members that they know wouldn't mash well with the current team but sometimes things can turn bitter between team members due to difference of opinions or a professional or personal fall out.

Has this ever happened to you? If so how do you deal with it?

There hasn't been anything like that on adminbb when talking about staff members having disputes. But from time to time the staff here do disagree on certain things (Often with Ashley.S. and I) but we don't ever let it get into a big problem and we keep things civil which all staff should..

I've never had it happen to me, but I have seen it in another forum I used to visit. Some Moderator got really mad because he thought that nobody listened to his ideas, and he thought that everybody looked down on him. He got so mad that he posted a thread bashing about every staff member there was. The thread turned out to be a 10 page long argument between pretty much all the moderators and some regular members. An admin later came on and saw the thread. He fired the Mod who started it all. After that, the former-mod got mad again and posted another thread bashing the admin and the forum. He got ban.

So, if anyone ever starts a problem. I'd probably warn them, then fire them. If the problem continues, I'd hand out bans.

I've had backstabbing occur, and they've gone straight out of the window. Any disagreements usually have been discussed calmly and tried to come up with a solution to keep everyone happy.

I recently had a staff member who came up with an idea that I didn't agree with however I thought it was a reasonable idea but it just wasn't the right time to implement it on my site but I also agreed my opinion could be wrong so I suggested we put it down to a majority vote from the rest of the staffing team.

I personally thought this was a fair way to resolve our difference in opinions but as soon as I suggested we put it to a majority vote he got rude, abusive and rather aggressive about things, luckily he was the one to ask to be removed from the team but hadn't he ask to be removed I would have fired him due to his unprofessional behaviour.

Sad really because at first he was a great member of staff was sad to see things turn out like that he clearly just wanted all his ideas implemented whether others agreed with them or not and didn't like being told no.

I've also had something like this occur before, it's surprising how people can act when they change, etc.

Backstabbing - tell me about it, its the most frustrating... I have had that happen often, where I hire someone one who is part of staff or an active member on another forum, and they are nowhere to be seen on my forum after I hire them but I see them on other forums where they are an active member or part of the staff and thats when I usually fire them unless they have a good reason for it. Thats when I stopped hiring people who were staff on multiple sites because its very hard to find a dedicated staff member, but you on the other hand are an exception :)
I know right? You see a completely different side to them.

I don't call that backstabbing, that's just being lazy trying to build up a big portfolio and not do any work at all, backstabbing is where the staff are secretly discussing and shit stirring (excuse the french) about you behind your back...

Well I couldn't say I have had staff members talking "shit" about me behind my back, but maybe the ones I fired after they failed to do their jobs. Let them hate, just do your job as you know whats best and run your site.
