I have mentioned numerous times how I run an adult forum running vbulletin 3.8. Its pretty dead now and I was considering a revamp. I am still deciding whether to upgrade to vbulletin 4 or convert to xenforo as I have fallen in love with it seeing adminbb using it. You guys have any suggestions?

This is a big move so its something that you should decide by yourself. If I was in your position I would convert over to XenForo, im sure your members would love it. With all the interesting features it has. Will bring up activity for you. And vB4 is not a big difference from vb3.. just a new look and a few extra features. But do your own research and choose which ever one you think will be best for you.

XenForo is some good stuff. Certainly AdminBB is really nice and on my own XenForo forum, I've had "I've never seen anything like it" kind of responses. Best way is to demo both, really.

XenForo also might be a good option just cause the team over there developed vBulletin 3.8 so it's not like they're not familiar with vBulletin or anything. But as Kaiser said, just demo both and see what works for you.

The conversion should go smooth for your members wont need to reset their passwords.

I've seen forums of both types. They both seem nice in my opinion, but I have never used them for my own forum.
vBulletin does have the nice (x viewing) things by each forum. However, I am unsure if that comes with XenForo. That's the only positive thing I have seen about vBulletin. Time for the cons.
On every vBulletin forum I have seen, there is no legend for groups. This can effect you if you have many groups.
Another faut I have seen with the vBulletin forums is style. It doesn't seem like it offers you much customization.
AdminBB is the only XenForo forum I have seen, so I don't know much about it. However, I have noticed some things that make it better than vBulletin. Here they are:
    1. Statuses. I have never seen these in any vBulletin forum.
    2. Legends. As I mentioned earlier, I have never seen any vBulletin forum with a legend.
    3. Easier to navigate. AdminBB is the forum I have seen that has the best navigation. You can be editing your avatar one minute; then be finishing up posting a reply in another.

So, based on this evidence, you might want to try XenForo. However, it may not be quite what you're looking for; so, sample both.

Wow Se7eN, you are quick to notice features for using a software for the first time. Xenforo doesnt have legends either, that is something I created exclusively for AdminBB. And you are very right, its very fast to navigate. And not to forget the alerts system which is similar to Facebook, and makes it more engaging.

You'll certainly know more about Xenforo as you visit more of them. None of the things you mentioned are coincidences, after all.

I'd rather use Xenforo because of the quoting alerts and likes alert; I would move to vBulletin 4.0 if it was not buggy.
