This is taken for phpbb.com, is it cause for concern?

It might interest you to know that phpBB 3.0.7 -> 3.0.8 was historically the longest it took for a minatenance release, taking a gargantuan 8 months, 23 days. This excludes the release of 2.0.23 (1 year, 1 month, 25 days) which didn't really count since 3.x had been in development and had its gold release several months before.

It is now 6 months, 22 days since 3.0.8 was released. This is where the project stands in terms of 3.0.9-RC1. I'm sure we can all draw our own conclusions from that.

I reckon it is. A month or two back I remember reading that it was though RC1 of 3.0.9 was expected but that never turned out. Since it's only a maintence release I wouldn't have thought it would have taken this long at all.

One things for sure, they are way behind in original target dates for 3.1.x and I think development/bug solving has some what decreased since Acyd Burn stepped down as the Development Team Leader in January 2010.

How long have they been working on 3.1? Five years seems like a long time, unless they weren't working on it.

Wow, didn't notice it was that slow at development. Haven't been keeping up with phpBB. Looks as if its in a similar situation to SMF, but still not as bad though. MyBB has been the only one being on time with updates.

What's up with them? If they're working this slow, they better be working on something big or like millions of small things.

Like Kaiser said I doubt it too. Its pretty disappointing as phpBB has alot of potential and its a great forum software.

Yea it is, they should start hiring developers like MyBB. That may help, it has helped MyBB.

When I was a phpbb fan boy (from 2007 - 2009), the updates were coming so often, It was overwhelming and aggravating. Aggravating because almost every "upgrade" would make my forum crash or make certain things not work anymore & I'd have to spend hours fixing it.
