Do you use automated banning systems for when users receive x amount of warnings? Post your thoughts about them here!

I would never use any automated banning systems. They are never accurate. MyBB comes by default with the akismet mod, and I have had problems with it banning legit members who never spammed. You are better of doing it manually.

I'm not referring to Auto Ban systems for anti-spam measures, more about when you issue your members a warning, and once they hit x amount of warnings, if they automatically get banned or not ;)

Well in that case I would just stick to manual banning.

Yea, I think Manual banning would probably be best, after all, automated systems can be prone to make mistakes...

Yea, its never perfect. Banning is a big thing so you dont want to have a member banned on accident.

No you don't, I've actually got to look into the mod that CT uses to stop the spammers coming in, but to still allow the legit users in so may have to study some code to get it to work properly...

vBulletin 4 has this for their infractions system(I think?), but I don't use it. Our members follow the rules quite often.

Manual banning would be easier, then that way you know that the person who should be banned is bad.

Yes, anything automated does fail you at one time or another.
