Sometimes there may be a time where one of your good members gets drunk, and decides to post on your community - do you stop them from posting, or do you allow it?

I've yet to experience this, so am quite curios as to what others say.

Sounds quite crazy if you ask me lol. Drunk posting... haha I too have yet to experience this but who knows if they really are drunk or they are just trying to troll/spam and soon they just say they were "drunk".

I don't think they should be as sometimes their posts make no sense at all...

I have seen an Admin/Owner of a very large (2million post) login to his forum and start banning members at random because he was drunk.

I've had this happen before, though they did it in the shoutbox and not in the forums themselves. Was pretty funny, though easy cleanup for me I guess. If they were posting and nobody was around, I'd probably mess with them (if I knew for sure they were drunk), otherwise I'd just ban them for a day to give them time to sober up.

What community was this? Did he ban quality members, and unban them when he was sober?

Never seen this before. Although I'd allow them to post, but the question is, how do you know when they're drunk before they post? Are you going to ask people when they login, "Are you drunk? If so you can't post".

I'd allow them but if posted anything bad I'd remove it, if they continued to I'd ban them(If knowing they're drunk, remove they're posting privilege for 48hours)

Yea thats the problem, you cant know if they are drunk or not unless they tell you when they sober up.

It was a large teen forum, im not going to say which one :)
Yeah he banned a member who has over 10,000 posts. He unbanned him after he had slept it off and apologized to him.

Some people just know how to handle their beer/liquor - and can make complete sense. How would you know if a drunk person is so drunk? By the way they post, but what if they're just tipsy? You wouldn't know. And - if a poster is high, you really can't tell.

Oh good God, first driving under the influence now trying to run a forum under the influence?? I myself have yet to experience this crazy affair, as I've never had a forum open long enough to experience such an ordeal, and hopefully I'll never go through it with this one! To be honest, since we take everything on a case by case basis on Chatting Time, we would really have to play everything by ear, although I'd probably suspend the member for a while (never permanent ban) until he was sober enough to post properly again. Of course, this is how I would do a member who's been on there since day one, or who's been on there long enough to the point where I've gotten to know their posting style quite well. Kind of hard to tell with newbies, even if you've seen them on other sites before.

To be honest, I would personally rather be banned than having to deal with a drunken staff member. Just would not be worth it and depending on how bad the situation, could only lead to more trouble in the long run. So really, I'd rather be banned rather than having to put up with a drunken forum owner.

Hey Ashley, can you try and refrain yourself from posting each quote in a new reply, as you can easily multi-quote posts within the same reply, like this:

If it was easily identified as posting under the influence, then a temporary suspension e.g. 12 hours would probably be enough for someone to sober up.

Same here, and if the owner was always drunk, then I probably would not visit that community again.

Off topic: Sorry about that, Ash. Still trying to get used to this new software from a members' perspective... Haven't learned all it's secrets yet, lol.
