The title says it all. When do you feel the need for change? Is it every few months, once a year, when activity slips to nothing or just whenever you feel like it?

When I stare at my site for a long time and figure that the design is worn out; also stats will show.

6/7 months really, I cannot stand the design afterwards and I open my photoshop and dreamweaver ASAP!

You never explained yourself why you change layouts/updates

Every few months or maybe a year depending on if anything needs to be changed at all. Remember when I came back from my long 3 month break on AdminBB? That was a time for a major revamp, which I did and it helped.
Lol I have seen you go through 3 templates so far on GamingIsland..

Nope 2, Version 3 was simple and I kept that for 6 months when I came to AdminBB I was gonna change layout
Version 4 came a long and was one of the failed layouts I have made
Version 5 was alright and classy but was not good enough for GamingIsland

    so really its 2 layouts

No need to tell me what to say and to explain myself, I've just decided not to explain myself (yet) as I'm a bit busy at the moment, I'll let y'all know later

When I have something to add, or think things are looking a bit dated.

I feel that a community deserves change when activity has gone down - such as, why not release a new layout, and freshen the place up if activity has gone down for some reason? Or you can fire staff members who are failing to work hard, or, as if, have dimished.

Agreed cpvr, those are some good points that should be taken into consideration by members struggling with their forums.

    Maybe a year or so.

If I like some design I will rather try to improve it more then to change it.
For me it's much more easier that way.

It depends really on what your members would prefer, if you are bringing a dead forum back to life, your best choice would a be a whole new look.
