In the early days of vb4, I just added my Google Adsense and all was good. Then at some stage in the upgrade process, my Google ad management was no longer there. Well I finally broke down and went to fix it and this is what I find out.

vBulletin needs to be integrated now. One must confirm the link between vB and Google. Now I thought, that is odd, why? It doesn't say anything about it until you get to the stage of verifying with Google. Here one sees this email:

Then after clicking the link, you get some more information. Once again this information is provided by Google NOT vBulletin.

All you see on vBulletin's site is:

This would not bother me so much but for the fact that it is done in a quiet and underhanded (in my opinion) way.If you want to skim my Adsense income then just come out and say so. Sorry but just another example of why I am getting so fed up with IB and their management of what once was great software. Ignorant and sneaky, enough said.

I am not happy with them because they do things like this. They also have to make things complicated and Its pretty obvious why they have this system requiring you to grant them access. It is very ignorant and sneaky like you said and it dosent amaze me at all. Thats another reason for them loosing customers, after buying a license the forum is completely yours and they shouldn't have access to anything in anyway.

Right, well here is what I get next:

Now, when you are ready to download the integrated version, you get this message:

This does not say that they will not skim part of your earnings though.

I would expect it too.. im not happy with vbulletin at all. They are some very selfish and ignorant people, and thats to IB the people who run it behind the scenes. Its all money and business for them. Satisfying members is not important.

Suprisingly I find it useful, I love how vBulletin intergrated this in, but you can always deactivate it.

It was like this back in August 2009, I don't know when IB had VB then but once we read that they were able to take a percentage of earnings, we disabled it with them, and enabled another ad plugin to use instead.

I've seen that before, but Adsense is still running through vBulletin's built in ad management, and Digitalpoint ads. :)

Never did like vB. One of the things that drove me away from them was the expense to make a forum using their software, and then having to pay more than what you paid for the software to get SEO.

You don't have to pay for vBseo with vBulletin 4 - there's an option to turn on search engine friendly URLs, its what I'm using.

I noticed that even though I would not allow vb access to my data, I was still able to activate it. It is running now. Now whether they still get money from me is to be seen.

Even if they are able to take some of your earnings, it may be hard to find out.
