Well I came across Flippa, its a website to buy and sell your websites. Just thought I'd share it as it looks pretty useful.

Thanks, its probably the number one site to sell websites. If you look at some of the sites for sell they go from a few to $30,000 lol.

Well some of those sites go for a lot of money, but the owner and the members had to invest a lot into it also for it to have that much worth.

But I noticed if a forum gets sold a lot of old members or "senior" ones also go away when its sold, I think that's mostly because they have created a certain kind of bond with the owner and now that he has sold it they might (at least some of them) feel betrayed while others might follow him to another forum that he will create.

I think of it as a double edge sword.
Sure you earn a lot of money but you also might lose a trust of your community members.

I've sold a few websites on flippa. Most I have got for one site was $2000 though.

It's quite easy to build up a website using a template and a good domain, put it up for sale and return $150 or so profit for something that has no traffic or income.

I've been looking around on Flippa and for some reason (not sure if this happens to anyone else), settings keep reverting back to showing sold and unsold sites. That's the only real thing that drives me away from there. Would also be nice if they had a "niche" filtering system of some kind.
