The most problematic member you have dealt with?

We all know how tough of a job it is to maintain a great and healthy community but there are always those members that like to create problems and drama. Whats the most problematic member you have dealt with?

 

For me the member was spamming porn pictures all over the forum. I think it was a bot because after I banned him he didn't create an account and continued spamming.

 

I have had a similar problem but it was a real member. He PM'd almost every single member, and I was able to take care of his posts but not PM's as I had no way to delete those.. so all the members saw those horrible pictures.. it was very nasty.

 

I think mine was a real member too. He made an intro too but would a bot do that?

The most difficult members I have tackled are the ones who posted their crap all over the forums, and then also via PM (I was lucky enough to be able to delete them via the ACP)

Also, the members who think they know everything and bash you for your decisions regarding permission restrictions or missing mods, etc.

 

Members from my competitor - who decided to come and troll my community. We ended up banning them, and moving forward. Moved their posts to the trash can, and acted like nothin happened.

"Cpvr you suck", "my account was fired", things like that, and we don't play those type of games. We're a more mature/friendly community, and personal attacks against us, aren't allowed.

 

Same here, I hate when people join just for trolling and causing drama. Its always a permanent ban.

 

Ya, and their friends get banned, too. Our competitor likes to talk bad about us, and mention us in posts, but we don't mention them, we just keep pushing forward.

People sometimes get joy out of trolling, its not funny though.

 

Its fun when you troll with a bunch of other people. But they are wasting their time while your site is beating their's

 

I'm not beating theirs quite yet. I'm 5k posts down. They opened last August. But we always have more users online, so the age is the only thing hurting us, but summer is coming, we'll come on top.

The worst for me was a user who spammed our link repeatedly across xenforo's wiki page and few other places. More recently the same user spammed our site's link across the demo for the new ipb version, i am really unsure why he is doing those things.

 

Yea I am scared if he does anything like that to AdminBB as he is banned here also since the time when he started spamming the blogs.

I was in the chat when he came in on the IPB 3.2 Demo on the IP.Chat he was cursing and trolling, and he got kicked out. But I dont remember him spamming your site on there. Probably later when I wasn't there.

 

Yup, and if I have the money, I'll do some posting competitons to combat the summer growth. My community usually does 500 to 1k posts during summer months.

 

This summer will be AdminBB's first summer.

 

I had a member that mass PMed everyone on my new forum offering his service. He also was dumb enough to PM me twice so I told him that if he does it again, he's getting banned. Haven't heard anything from him since so we'll see what happens I guess.

 

Why did you even not ban him the first time? I would instantly ban him lol.

 

I should have, but I gave him another chance after he pleaded with me not to ban him. Guess I'm too nice and give people second chances.

 

I give members chances as well, but Mass PM'ing is way out of boundary. Its also disappointing after you give someone a second chance and they take it for granted.
