My community is a registered business, and owned by me, but its also a hobby of mine. I enjoy running online communities - and its a great way to share your knowledge with others.

So is your forum a hobby or business?

Hobby more than anything. I've never created a forum to make a profit out of it and will never do so.

My communities are hobbies. I love to converse with my members, see what they've gotten up to, etc :)

Same here, without that you don't have much of a community.

Right now one of my forums is a hobby. I won't know if I can make it into a business till I get more traffic from it to earn anything from it. Though it would be nice to earn money from my forum.

All my forums are really just hobbies. Never thought of making cash on them at all.

You can try too.. all the cash I make goes straight to funding AdminBB and nothing else so basically it pays for itself after all the hardwork.

I never make a forum as a business, I always make a forum for my hobby or interest.
And by the way, I'm still young to get into business.

I know many Webmasters like to wait until their forum reaches a decent activity level before they can decide whether or not to turn it into a full-fledged business... but no matter how active Chatting Time gets, I'll never turn it into a business. I like having my own place, where I can do whatever I want, when ever I want, within reason. I don't fancy the idea of turning a forum into a practical full-time or part time job. If someone was really hard-up for cash, then they can probably stick a few ads like we're currently doing and go from there, but if you're not planning to make any sort of profit out of it, then it's not worth it to do it as a second job.

Well I'm not the sort of greedy person who will create things on purpose to make money, so if I gain anything out of it, I consider it a bonus rather than an a business bringing in income, etc.

I dont either.. all the money I earn from AdminBB is spent only toward AdminBB and nothing else but its still a business because I earn from it... and a Hosting company is actually a business also.
