Godaddy and Namecheap are two of the most popular domain registration companies. Which one do you prefer and why?

Namecheap: they don't kill elephants, they don't eat up your domains, they keep emails down to a minimum, free WHOIS Gaurd for a year, etc. need I say any more?

Wow free whois gaurd... that does sound good. Godaddy does send tons of emails. And the I think the Elephant matter is nothing big as how the news media is putting it.

I'm happy with Namecheap and their service. Their user panel is very friendly and it's organized well, unlike GoDaddy. They offer good competitive prices and with their monthly promotions/coupons, they provide some of the cheapest prices relative to their support, service and ease of use.

I have to agree that godaddy's panel is not that great, its too confusing, namecheap's panel is very simple. But I still prefer godaddy.

Godaddy kept winding me up when I had a domain with them, their panel like kept changing every week and it constantly confused me

I don't like GoDaddy's bugged panel and their silly rules. (No transfers for 60 days after changing whois records... BS)

I use NameCheap rarely but they're a lot better than GoDaddy imo.

They also don't use racy ads that have nothing to do with the service they offer. Like...really? How in the world does Danica Patrick have anything to do with domains? o_O

That being said, I ironically use GoDaddy for the one domain I have. #hypocrite I'll probably go with Namecheap in the future; I've heard lots of good things about them from my forum-owning friends on Twitter. :)

I prefer domain.com idk why its just what I use after godaddy went crazy with my credit card without permission.

Well I never had any problems with godaddy, I guess that just me. I prefer Godaddy because its a actual company, and they aren't a reseller like namecheap, so I can rest assured nothing will happen to my domains.

I used to use Godaddy, but in the recent months my friend convinced me to move to namecheap. The reason I actually decided to move is because of the Free Whois protection.

yes it is only for the first year :( however, I have not seen the WHOIS Guard that cheap anywhere else though, which is always a good thing :)

Tell me about it... I am not sure if I want to pay that much for whois again.. and I dont want to go through the hassle of changing from godaddy to namecheap.

The best thing about Namecheap is you don't have to go through hoops just to get a domain. GoDaddy is annoying with the advertising in your face approach (buy this, how about this? etc). The only downside to Namecheap is their site is a bit slow sometimes.
