Does your forum make enough money to pay for hosting, domains and other bills?

Yes I make enough revenue to not have to pay from my own pocket. Most of the money comes through adspace.

My community earns revenue from adsense and private ads - my VPS is $35/month so I make enough to cover my hosting costs for 2 to 3 months.

Hmm, good to know... $35 a month seems alot where I pay like 75 yearly for shared hosting along with the domain payments. Does all of it get used or you get some savings?

Nope, I still have plenty of money left over. Like this month I sold a link for $45, banner ad $60, and adsense has made $70 so far. :)

No, I currently do not make enough from my website(s) to cover the bills but I do make enough to pay the bills out of pocket. For me, as long as Im having fun with my website(s) I dont care if revenue is coming in.

Same here, if I was not generating revenue I would be paying from my pocket instead since its not a problem, and I enjoy it.

Not at all. I don't have ads on my site and I don't plan on putting on any either... I rely on the good will of my members for support via donation. I've spent around $400 on the forum I'm talking about... buying the software and add-ons, server fees, domain registration + migration, etc... I received $120 in donations even though I've only got 700 members (of which probably only 70 log in sometime during the week and of the 70, about 20 post frequently).

Well, why don't you put ads up? I make $70/month from adsense alone - and my software was paid for by my sponsor - I also sell private ads - which bring in more revenue, my community pays for itself. If you have 70 log ins, then how many daily visits/pageviews do you get?

    I have to agree.
I paid for my software out of my pocket... things are easier when you have a sponsor. But I dont like taking help from others, I rather just pay from my pocket which I have been doing all along. I have invested up to $500 on adminbb so far if not more.
You can have a really active site but that dosent mean that adsense will always work. It depends on if the visitors/members will actually click the ads.

I used to pay from my parents pockets, Revenue was no problem until I released GamingIsland Version 3, where I became responsible and paid using Adverts

Yea, when I first started of, my mom would help pay for my projects... and I was younger, but now I make enough through AdminBB to pay for it.

Does feel much better when you pay for it on your own.

It depends on your niche - I don't make $x,xxx with adsense, but I make a bit to cover my bills and such. I have my adsense located in show thread, and randomly in posts.

The only thing I payed for was the domain and that was $12 which came out of member donations. Well, I had one donation of $20. Still have more to spare =D

I don't put ads on for ethical reasons, I don't like them, especially not on a forum - and definitely not my own. The main site that is in the works will have ads though and that will certainly get more hits than the forum.
