How many forums have you had? In my 7 years as a webmaster I have had a few, im not like others that make a new forum everyday and cant stay interested in a forum. So far I have had 6 forums in these 7 years, and all of them did pretty well while they lasted. So far AdminBB is my best creation yet.

This is my second; I've explained it before on here, but my first one perished due to a fire my inability to keep it popular (or ever get it there in the first place :P). I'm glad to say my current forum is doing fairly well and I've been more actively working on it than last time.

I don't know, maybe about 5-10, some host moves, some mergers, and some re-brands

I'm on forum number three. The first one died when Animal Crossing DS died. The second one died due to various staff members resigning because of family problems. I plan on not letting my current one end.

About 5 if you don't count rebirths of forums then 3.

The worst ending to a forum was when 1&1 locked the domains in my account after canceling my hosting. So much for paying $30 to put the domain into my hosting account. (wish I knew better at the time lol). So glad I've got that domain back and didn't pay the $1500 asking price :D

Sorry to hear thats messed up. Thats why you are best of registering domains through registrars and not hosts.

Indeed, I've learned my lesson and went with Namecheap (been there for 5 years now)

Oh God, way too many to count! Learned my lesson the hard way to just open one forum and to stick with that forum... three and a half years of trial and error, but it's all been worth it because look at where we are now!

It was rather ridiculous to be honest. I would open one forum, go at it strong for about two weeks tops, then we'd be closed. It soon turned into a game of cat and . mouse so to speak, with me opening and closing forums every two weeks. It was pathetic and at one time I ended up making plenty of enemies because of it, but my current forum is almost 9 months old, so this is actually a record because this is the longest I'd ever had a forum. By the way, those of you who were on the original Forum Advertiser forum, and who were members of FP back in 2008-2009, you all know how bad I was at keeping a forum open. I'd also request packages at stupid times too, because it seemed like I'd always want to close the forum before a package was even so much as tagged. It got pretty wild there for a while.

Oh, yes I can see about the enimies part as on forums such as ForumPromotion, people dont really like it when they see you go from one forum to another, but we all learn from our mistakes and im glad you are doing good.

Ah okay, anyways I dont think VR would do so good if it wasn't for xenforo as its more social, and engaging.. same goes with AdminBB, I dont think it would have done so great if I had gone with vB or IPB.

I've had quite a few over the past 8 years. I would say 6 or 7 maybe but only 2 reached decent success. HCNET was one of them and my first forum called "Bagofchips" which was also a general community.

Well, experience is the main factor - so you owned more than 2o forums, what happened to all of them? Did you sell them? Or just close them for good?

Yeah, 20 does seem like a good rough estimate. 95 per cent of those forums I basically closed for good. 2 I tried selling for forum currency... never trying my luck with that again as they only got abandoned or closed down by the new owners anyway, so it's almost like they would've closed no matter what I did with them. Since I don't trust selling, if I truly had to do something with this forum, example if my health starts getting worse or whatever, I'll try to see if I can get probably my co-administrator (assuming he's still on staff when the time comes!) to take it off my hands. But after those two crappy experiences with trying to sell boards, I mainly just closed them.

Technically I've had two, but the current one I am running is technically the same thing as the last one, just forcefully started anew because I had no way of getting a backup of the old forum from the free hosting provider when I wanted to switch to my own host... We've managed well enough, though I'm still in the process of reposting everything at the new host. Just had to make due :)
