Which one do you prefer and why?

I prefer Paid Hosting as its always much more reliable, and you can do so much more with your site.. and not have alot of limits like free hosts. You also dont have to worry about downtime or having you site shut down for using a little bit more resources since free hosts only offer limited.

Also sites are most like to be most successful on paid hosting.

Paid hosting for sure. It's a small investment to make each month and is well worth having the piece of mind knowing your sites work.

Yea, and if your site starts getting successful, you wont even have to worry about hosting bills or domains bills as you start generating income from your site. But in order to be successful, you really do need paid hosting and optionally a paid domain name.

The thing about free hosts is they have absolutely no incentive to keep your site up. I don't entirely like the thought of that. To be perfectly honest, if you have any sort of a problem with $8/mo, you shouldn't be running a website.

Services like WordPress.com are a different story, they haven't had any major issues when it comes to pulling the trigger on your site.

Or they can always go with yearly hosting as it has bulk pricing, and you dont have to worry about monthly payments. People hosted on hostgator should be worried as they are known to be trigger happy.

If you can find the right free host that has been established for a long time and has a lot of supporters then you have nothing to worry about but when it comes down to it Paid Hosting is the best you can get as long as you find a nice and reliable webhost :)
