Isn't it annoying when the forum owner's user name is just "Admin"?

Don't you guys find it annoying when a forum owner or admin has their username "Admin" or "Administrator"?

I find it very boring also, say you are having a discussion and you just have to call them Admin. For Example: "Yea I agree with you admin, that movie wasn't that great." Just kinda weird, and is not very inviting. It also discourages me from communicating with them.

    Whats your thoughts?

I feel that they have something to hide, and as such I don't bother with places like that

Maybe they can't think up of a username? lol I seen like only like 1 or 2 people use Admin, Administrator before. So it does not really bother me much.

Yeah, I find it mildly annoying. This is why when I bought CODForums, I changed the master admin account to the site's name. And only use it for administrative duties.

Yeah, it just shows that some admins don't have any creativity. I always would rather post on a forum where the admins have real usernames than on one with the admin as "admin".

Plus, user names usually have a story behind them which makes them more interesting and tells something about you.

I agree, and good point... usernames do have stories behind them.

I only have an issue with it if the account is actually being used normally by the founder. On the vB forum of which I'm an administrator, member #1 is Admin, but it's used as a "placeholder" (wrong word, I suppose, but you get my point) for PMs and things that don't need to be assigned to a particular user (i.e. automatically-sent PMs from add-ons); member #2 is the actual head admin's account.

On my forum, I took the "personal" approach a step further and went with Kurt, my first name, as my username instead of my typical handle. I figure people are going to know me well enough on my own forum that I'll instruct them to call me Kurt anyway, so I may as well start with that, lol.
(p.s. You all can call me Kurt. haha)

Same reasoning here, but instead I chose my last name Kaiser :)

    And okay Kurt :)

Yea its really not, one thing webmasters lack these days is creativity. Its what makes your site stand out.

It can be annoying at times but it isn't a big deal to me. It does affect the relationship between members and the owner in my opinion though. It's not something I would personally do, ever.

I find it a little annoying, seeing as your username is, well, your 'identity' on a forum. To me, just being 'admin' is like having a blank identity.

So yeah, I dislike it a fair bit.

Is that really an excuse for naming your forum admin account? I use the same 3 or 4 usernames for everything. (Unless it's for something I don't really want associated with me, such as halfassed Postloop forums [But then it sucks when you warm up to the forum and can't change your name back])

IMO making your name "admin" just shows you don't care about your board, are only in it for the money, etc.

Im sure they care, they just have a bad way of showing it. They probably think its professional or something but its not.

My view is they are not the real deal and not dedicated enought, I for one would not join a site with admin with the name admin

Yea, I agree, why join a site where the admin is masked by a generic name, as they could be anyone!

Yep I agree, you need to open up so members can come to know and trust you.
