With yearly hosting you wont have to worry about hosting payments for a year, just in case you forget to pay in time, so it takes that worry of your shoulders... buying yearly hosting can also be cheaper on many hosts as they lower the prices since you are buying in quantity. I only get yearly hosting when I trust the host I am on, you have to be careful when buying yearly hosting, because if the hosts starts having problems you wont be able to get your money back, and switch to another one.

With monthly hosting you have to pay every month, and if you dont pay in time they temporarily suspend you account. But the positive thing is if you dont like the host, you can always switch when your next payment is due... but on yearly hosting you cant do that.

So which one do you guys prefer? I myself prefer yearly hosting, and I dont have any worries as I on an outstanding host.

Monthly, encase I decide to end the current project so I am not out of pocket for any time I don't use the hosting, etc.

Yearly. It's a lot cheaper and I have oodles of websites so deciding to kill one isn't going to warrant me closing my hosting account.

If you're going for an iffy host, then I'd say monthly is better though.

Yearly hosting, since it takes the load of your shoulders for a good while.

If you're paying with a PayPal 'subscription', it automatically withdraws money monthly so you don't have to think about it.

Yes I know, but when you buy a yearly package its still cheaper, and not everyone has their paypal set to automatic, just some people.

I agree, but if you do set it to automatic, that makes monthly payments a little more justifiable. If you don't have too much cash to throw around, sometimes paying monthly is needed.

    I still pay yearly, though.

I'd probably say yearly as I would just keep worrying about having to pay at the end of the month

Read the whole thread, mate. Yearly is still best, though.

I agree to that, because not all hosts will issue you with a pro-rated refund for unused months :(

In my case, I can pay by the year since I have a few sites here and there and not worry about any bills till next year.

I usually buy hosting 3 months at a time. Never know how your host will end up in a few months so there's no reason to waste money if you're going to switch after 4 months. Lowers the risk while still having a fair cost (usually) unlike paying monthly.

And plus, what if my site outgrows the yearly hosting provider? I'd go with monthly, its much easier, and plus, you can always both months in advance.
