Well 2 days ago I had plans of deleting Admin BB as it had died upon my 3 month leave. I just couldn't re-do everything, but then I realized how big of a mistake it would have been, as this issue could be resolved, may take some time but is worth as its my passion. So I decided not to delete it, and revamp it which in the end was a good idea as adminbb is already very active. So whats your thoughts on a dead forum?

A throne. And you're bowing to me.
    I'll just say this.

You can always turn something small into something big with enough effort and luck.

Very true, AdminBB was already big... time to make it big again.

There have been countless times that I've contemplated on killing off my forum and selling my forum license to recoup as much as I can. I'm glad I never let my emotions take control. When we see other websites making it big in a short time, we are discouraged. However, that does not mean that we can't achieve what they have achieved. Just as how each child learns at a different rate, each community grows at a different rate. With this in mind, as long as you have passion for what you created, be it dead or not, I think it is worth the effort to work on it once more.

I think while you yourself may not be able to bring it to life. Letting someone else take it over may just be what it needs to get it back to life. So deleting it may not always be the right thing to do.

Handing it over may not do it either, it really depends on the situation, and how the person you might hand it over to might deal with things.

Things can be revamped, I revamped EA/EH once or twice and it always worked in getting the activity back before it got hacked:mad: I've got an archive of the EH V3 and other sites I ran to show in my portfolio but I've not set that up yet because I've had other things to do, etc.

Sounds interesting, you still have back ups of the late EA?

Yes it was, but my community was very understanding about the issue, and helped build it back up, but not to it's former glory sadly :(

They were supposed to be safe, the hackers managed to find an exploit somehow, which is as soon as it was found 2HU moved servers & providers because it was something done by the host and not us ourselves, etc.

I agree, retool, come up with better ideas, do something different. All better than deleting all your hard work and it may pay off.

Well, it depends. If you still have the 'fire', then revive it. If you're not feeling like it can run OK again, just delete or sell. I have done all this in my admin life and never regretted any of the measures I took.

Yup, especially if there's a lot of content for you to work with. If there wasn't much, then deleting it wouldn't be much of a problem. It's not hard to get a dead forum again especially if you do post exchanges or use post loop, then advertise via your signature on various forum - it'll work in the end[reviving it of course], but that's only if you still have the motivation and dedication to keep on pushing.

I agree with all of the above, you have something to work with, don't give up revamp. And aim to be better than before.

    Good luck Kaiser :)

Before deleting a dead forum, I'd do what you did and try to revamp and resurrect it. If it absolutely couldn't be brought back to life and was dead, then I would delete it and maybe try something different, but this would be only after I was absolutely sure there was nothing I could do to restore my forum.
