I like the theme :) You could use a banner for it though.

looks okay but yeah a custom theme would be great and also I'd disable your homepage unless you plan on having articles frequently posted as it only makes the site look inactive

Since XenForo hasn't had a gold release yet, I'm waiting to do my own. I'm going to add a forum sidebar on the home page and maybe news. As of now, there still is no way (as far as I know) to get the home page tab selected.

He installed the forum in the root directory while I installed it in /forums. I can redirect it to the forum though and it would act the same way.

yeah I'd do that but if it's not to late I'd install it in the root as it's better for SEO

    what having it improve SEO?
    by installing the root directory?
it keeps url's shorter and neater if your site is primarily a forum you dont need the redundandcy that

    myurl.com/forum/forum-index.php
    or something similar

shorter url's are always better for SEO unless your comparing to keywords in the title, then it's bet to use some descriptive non-overly used

I'm planning to add an article/news section and maybe a buy/sell section in the future.

when you add them you could just make them directories or have sub domain redirects
