Many people work in the human services field, either as paid employees or as volunteers (or in some cases, both) in order to try to make a difference in the lives of those they're trying to help. But unfortunately, some of them eventually start to not care about the individuals they're supposed to be trying to help. Some start to lose the desire to try to help others. If you work in the human services, you have to care about people, and you have to care about trying to help them. If you no longer care, it doesn't mean you've become a bad person. However, it does mean that you must leave the human services field and do something else.
