I see that many admins here are running vBulletin forums and I'm curious as to how many use the postbit layout compared to the postbit legacy?

I have noticed that a good deal of larger forums use the postbit legacy, yet vB.com and vB.org use the postbit layout. Is there any particular reason you choose one over the other?

I personally prefer using the newer (horizontal) postbit, but I also like the look of the legacy postbit. What to choose! :)

The legacy is the vertical postbit :D

I prefer legacy hands down. To me, it looks more organized and if you have alot of postbit info, such as this site does, it's a necessity. Can you imagine how the horizontal postbit would look with all this info on top??

I'm a big legacy postbit fan, I've always used it, and normally it's one of the first settings changed however on my newest forum (in the works still) I've opted to keep the newer (horizontal style) just to see how it goes..I'll probably wind up switching it to legacy though.

I tend to switch between them and the majority of my members don't even notice. ;)

I prefer legacy all the way. On my forum we used the regular postbit for the first year and I just switched to legacy a couple of weeks ago. I did so because so much extra stuff was being added into the postbit; It's much more appealing with legacy in this case.

My largest forum always had the horizontal version. This was because it was my first vBulletin forum and this was something new to me, having used IPB in the past. I have since come back to the vertical version, especially if you want to have a lot of information in your postbit.

Depends on the forum and the profile fields etc.

I usually prefer regular postbit, but I made this mod so that users can toggle it themselves:

    Select Postbit - vBulletin.org Forum

I've noticed a bit of a trend when it comes to the style of postbit used on each forum. When it comes to forums that have been around for years and years, the members who join newer forums (using the horizontal postbit) tend to get confused and ask the following question: "Where is the information bar thingy that we usually see to the left of each post?" :p

That is the single most asked question on vBulletin-FAQ.

"How do I move the postbit info to the left?" grrrrrrrrrrr....

Possibly upon the registration process, members should be greeted with a notice that states the following:

If you are going to ask how to move the information "thingy" to the left, see this thread first.

Should clear up any confusion that they may have. Hah!

And it can all be done with a click of the mouse... quite literally.

I can't find myself caring about which one is used. I am used to both.

I do like the postbit in vBulletin 4.0 though. It has a lot of features packed into it that the screenshots shown already can never show.

Legacy fan myself, and would never change it, but I can see why someone would use postbit. I think it's very well suited for support threads where user info isn't the most important, and you want to stack posts tighter.
