I know in a lot of forum software [like vB above] there is usually an easily accessible menu option to click and get new thread and/or Subscribed Threads.

On an IPB forum, is there such a menu item or easy click from the forum home or a drop down menu?

Not by default, however you can add one or else you have to go thru a couple of clicks to get there.

I'll post the how to add it later today as its a nice usability feature.

I have always been disappointed that this feature isn't standard. I am so used to the ease of vBulletin's thread subscriptions that when I am using forums with IPB, I get lost and frustrated.

I've since found that on IPB 3.0.x that if you are logged into the board that on the board index you'll see a "Watched Content" block at the bottom of the sidebar. It includes both threads and forums you're watching. And it can be moved to a higher position if you like.

I remember with the earlier versions of IPB there was the "My Assistant" link that could show you quite a few things, one of them being your subscribed topics.
