I've been using HitTail for years, and recently added it to this site to track what's being searched.
That's how I found these threads, some as much as 9 years old last night and bumped them. I figured if they were found once by search, replying to them and pinging the tubes, would give it that much greater of a chance for being found again.

Have you tried hit tail? It's based on your longtail searches, a must for any serious webmaster.

It also gives you suggestions or topics to start depending on the search traffic you've already had. They suggest using adwords as well, I have a 100$ coupon, I may toss use it as well.

I think of it as "low lying fruit". Easy to pick. If Google naturally wants to send you traffic for a particular key phrase on one of your buried content pages, then bring it to the surface, and give it some link love. The result may be instant boost in ranking - such as a page 2 to page 1 jump, or unlocking several new keyword variations from the page that were previously yielding nothing due to the lack of link value directed at the page. I think HitTail is great too! ;)

There are *recent* threads. There are *hot threads*. And there are *search hit producing* threads. The former two keep the users interested. The latter keeps the users coming. ;)
