Independence

Hey guys. I'm working on a little project because I'm very bored. I'm taking a top hat vector I've just made, making patriotic American ribbons burst out of it. I'll add stars later, and then I'm going to vector this teenager's face in. This teenager, whose name is John is very interested in politics and hopes to become president one day. The kid knows politics like the back of his hand, that's how good this kid is.

So I'm thinking what I could do in my spare time and this idea pops into my head. I saw something similar back in 1996 I think, so I figured this would work.

 

Pretty good, what do program do you use to make vectors?

 

Photoshop. It's a bit more difficult to keep track of than using Illustrator but it works for me. I have patience it seems when it comes to these things.

I overworked the top of the ribbon, but that's fixable using a very small brush and a steady hand. I suppose I'll be finished in 2-3 days depending on how much time I have. He doesn't have a complicated face so it shouldn't be too hard to vector his head.

 

The blue could be deeper. #001ab6 or #001ed4 could potentially look good.

I do mu vector graphics on photoshop as well. I only use illustrator for logos. I have a touchscreen which makes my PS experience better!

 

I tried a deeper blue and it came out awful, I would have to use a darker red and the darker red made the rest look gloomy. I can adjust it later on using the colors tool.

I use Photoshop for logos too. Again, it's a pain in the butt but it's what I like best.

And I'm jealous of that touchscreen.

It's looking pretty darn cool!!

 

It's a bit hard. Granted because the photo I found isn't at a very high resolution, and I don't see myself asking him anytime soon for a clearer one. That just doesn't come across well on an internet forum. I just go with one major vector cover are per layer, then add points to adjust. I get better control that way.

Doing the hair at the moment. I may starts on the minor decals tomorrow. Not going to use much brush other than for shadows. I want this to remain clear and as vector like as possible.

Nope. I use those when photo editing. I used a custom silk preset I created based on the photo I had.

I also noticed I turned on another layer that wasn't supposed to be there. /facepalm

 

It is coming along quite nicely. You have talent.
