Have you ever bought your competitions forum and melt it together with your community? Or have you ever been bought of an competition?

If you have how do you do when you transfer all users and post from one forum to the other one? What if 2 different user use the same username on both forums?
    How do you solve that?

Do you redirect the domain to the other? Have you kept your site and transfer all the users from the site you bought or did you keep the other site and transfer yours? I mean the domains and styles and such thing.

There's a competing forum I've offered to buy (for the domain name), but never got an answer to my offer. If there was any conflict between usernames I would email both people and offer suggestions for a name change.

I've thought about doing that with some of the small to mid Disney-related forums. But, I'm still concentrating on growing my own site and getting it closer to where I want it to be.

There's a certain forum up for sale that I'd like to buy and take the database of, yeah. ;)
It won't happen, though, and I've never done it before. But I think it's a good idea, especially when just take the members, posts, and content of the forum you buy and keep everything else the way your own forum already is.

Honestly, some of my competitors are just to big. I would rather invest that money in something more tangible like Mineral rights or Timber land.

 Yeah, it's not going to happen. I wish we could get our hands on that though.

Anyways, I have never bought a competitor because, well, I don't have any competitors with my Linnie forum... so I'm all good. The only thing I'm competing with are Yahoo Groups which are enough of a mess to push users away.
