Anyone else really annoyed by how many companies have removed their forums recently?

Seriously, I see a ton of big companies just destroy their official forum community to go after the Twitter and Facebook hype, and it really kind of annoys me to be honest.

Bloody hype chasing marketers and bandwagon riders willing to kill customer goodwill for some stupid likes or followers.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I know, and I still don't like it.

    If people need examples:

Atlus closed their forums for this reason:

Nintendo did this a long time ago:

    http://forums.nintendo.com/

(The European version didn't even get a goodbye message, they just vanished without a trace one day).

ITV did this too, but I can't even find the link to their forum message any more.

Well this sucks! Let's hope this trend doesn't continue. I find forums /a lot/ more useful then social media sites. If I wanted to share selfies with friends - then I'd turn to social media.

Many companys are going the way of using Twitter and Facebook for posting notices these days because it gets more coverage, than doing it on a forum they run.

Any company I pay money to who "refocuses their efforts on social media" has also "refocused their efforts on not retaining me as a client".
