There was lot of drama of ThemeHouse (formerly HexThemes, formerly Audentio) on XenForo about the free, now paid, addons that used to be available from Waindigo, and the idea funding "idea".

But beyond that, the website that they launched a few months ago still says it is "coming soon", creating something "awesome". Is there something I missed? Is there something great and powerful coming soon, like there was supposed to be with Audentio's xfuniverse.com site?

Also, was it a planned decision to make the threads on ThemeHouse viewable only to registered members? There isn't a lot of traffic on the site at the moment, so it seems a little strange to block that content from lukers.

I don't know what is up with the name changes over the past year. I do know that they made it hell upgrading the add-ons they purchased. In order to upgrade you had to uninstall the add on losing all settings and install the new one. That is ridiculous and tells me the coders don't know what they are doing. It isn't hard to rebrand an add on and make it an upgrade to the old one.

Not only that they started to charge for previously free add ons and didn't bother to fix any outstanding bugs. That is bad business practice. Then the add ons that they didn't think would make them any money they packaged them up and put them on GitHub.

They want you to pay for access. Even members don't have access to all areas unless they purchase a subscription so you're really not missing much from what I can tell. I would never buy a subscription. Hell you even have to buy credits in order to vote on bug fixes and enhancements. I don't know who came up with the business model, but, he must have been high on something when he did.

At least the themes are still decent.

Yeah, I think it's obvious that they've taken too big of a bite out of the XenForo add-on market. I wonder why they tried to end up with a bunch of nearly abandoned add-on's, but not try to get the nearly abandoned styles, instead?

I find it strange that they have more employees working full time on ThemeHouse products than XenForo has staff!

But if you can make it work, good for you.

And speaking of Waindigo, what happened to the forumcake.com project he was working on? I think the site's been down for a month or so.

Can't remember what forum cake was supposed to be. Some kind of new XenForo development framework or something?

I'm not so sure they actually have as many employees as they claim. If they do it's clear they go about doing things without any sort of co-ordination. At least it looks that way from the outside. From the outside looking in it looks like a dysfunctional company.

Why did they take them all on? That's pretty clear. They seen a way to make money while doing little to no work.

Jon has removed it and has left add on development altogether.
