Please, don't bother to read the thread. It's not that important anyway, is it?

Good as I can be, thanks. Still sucking my air through a hose in my nose. But that won't keep me from the remodeling project on my apartment I started last year. I'm working on the bedroom now. And I'm enjoying gliding around on my Segway. It does okay in a little snow, but the ice is too dangerous for me. I took it shopping in Reno today. Broke down an' bought a sliding miter saw so I wouldn't have to keep borrowing the neighbor's crappy sawdust maker. :D For most of that, I am greatful to Adsense.

One thing that really got to me was the vbulletin bashing with vbulletin 4, and then the vbulletin bashing about xenforo.

Wayne Luke was an outstanding member of this community, and he was driven away - that was inexcusable to me.

It seemed to me that the negative attitude of a lot of the members tore this place apart and sent the members on their way.

I liked visiting here and posting, but not when 99% of the stuff I read was negative piles of dog crap.

I agree that the debating and bashing got a bit carried away, but it was so difficult for me to contain that situation without stepping into other murky waters by censoring discussions subjectively.

Yes, it is terrible that things got to the point where somebody as revered as Wayne Luke had no choice but to leave, but to be quite frank, no single member can be shown favoritism. He was just like any other member of this community, but it just so happened that he was a representative of the target of much heated energy (vBulletin).

The "piles of dog crap" were moved into a separate sub-forum as an effort to avoid having to ban all anti-vBulletin discussion while also making it easy for those who don't want to participate in such discussion to simply stay out of it.

In the end though, I really don't think the heated vB arguments are what broke AA apart; it was a rapid halt of activity combined with some other behind-the-scenes events that kinda ended the show for a bit.

    how about this....

    (my opinion of course)

    1. PLEASE don't change it to Xenforo for whatever it's called....PLEASE keep it on VB.
    2. Everybody and their brother ripped this place off and started their own little "webmasters forum", and those will die down...and they will come crawling back.
    3. I've always considered this to be the best "Admin" source. People are helpful, friendly, ect.

Sometimes, people stray away, and forget. I know that I've forgotten a few times about a few forums.

A friendly letter/email is always gonna help....it's helped me b4...lol...

    just my 2 pennies....

Not "everyone" started their own webmaster forum - I didn't.

To be honest, for 1 reason or another I have stopped visiting webmaster forums - whether its v7n, digitalpoint,,,,, or any of the other dozen I belong to, I slowly stopped visiting them.

One of the main reasons why I stopped, was all of the spammers posting stuff like "what is a backlink" - only to build up their post count and signature links.

adminaddict is one of the very few admin forums that has not been overrun with trash posters.

That's good to hear, but we shouldn't enjoy the quiet community, we should make it more active.

What happened to you posting as an administrator and being more involved? It doesn't matter if you're working on things behind the scenes, you should still be active.

I fully understand your viewpoint and to an extent, agree. I would like to make it clear though, that my inactivity and my lack of a fervent presence was not something that was planned. Certain events, both related and un-related to the operation of AdminAddict led to a period of inactivity which has thus far been indefinite.

The desire to get things back to how they were -- in fact, even better than they were -- certainly has made a presence, but there must be some strategy in how I bring the energy back to AA. Timing is important, and now is not the time (considering the state of our development in what we have planned).
